He will be....of the prison woodshop where he will be taking all the wood.

This guy should be president.

The fact that you would want that shows why your political philosophy is awful. Snowden did more to advance freedom in the United States than anyone since Lincoln.

Compromised state secrets to foreign powers.. you call that freedom ?

Lincoln would have hanged himself...

5   Dan8267   2013 Dec 25, 3:22pm

The republicans compromised important state secrets when they outed CIA operative Valerie Plame, whose job was to make sure that terrorists don't get loose nukes.

Edward Snowden revealed the crimes committed by the United States government. Such whistle-blowing is necessary for the very survival of our species. Power must be checked or it will be abused to the point of threatening the entire world.

Our government, ran by completely monarchist assholes, thinks privacy is not a right.

Yes perhaps he did but he also revealed a lot of other information that is not criminal, and in doing so likely jeopardized the intelligence gathering on non U S citizens who have no expectation or guarantee of privacy. Of course you may be referring to crimes that exist in your own mind/ conception of what is/should be legal while I am referring to what is constitutional and spying on foreign governments and foreign nationals is well within the framework of the constitution.

Snowden revealed the information in a way that for many people wrecked his personal credibility. As presidential fodder I would rate him considerably lower than Ralph Nader, unless you are speaking of president of the Mickey Mouse fan club

I appreciate Snowden for exposing NSA. However, my concern is what power Israel has with this spying information more than the USA's power.

Lololololol

I never said I supported him going to prison. I merely pointed out that is the most likely outcome. Why do you rush to judgement? Why do you hate the police? Why only three letters and four numerals? What the fuck is wrong with you?

Seems to me you don't know much about Lincoln. Today is the 151st anniversary of the largest mass execution in US history, which was ordered by your beloved Lincoln. Today many natives mourn what happened when their warriors fought for their simple survival. Thankfully, my husband's great, great grandfather escaped capture during the Sioux uprising in MN.

More people have died by the hands of Hitler, Stalin, and Moa each then have been killed by all criminals and all terrorists in all of history put together. If the price to pay to prevent America committing yet another genocide is jeopardizing our intelligence or our spies, it's a damn good trade-off. The amount of death and suffering that a superpower can inflict upon the world, including its own citizens, is far greater than can be inflicted by our so-called enemies, most of whom would not be enemies if we were not an evil empire. And yes, we are an evil empire. All empires are evil; it is their nature to be so.

And yes, the United States of America has committed many genocides. This is an indisputable historical fact.

rdm says

I hold the exact opposite opinion. What Snowden did proves him to be exactly what the American people have always wanted in a president: someone who is not a Washington insider. Snowden is the ultimate outsider.

SoftShell says

I never said I supported him going to prison.

The way you worded your post strongly implied a menacing approval of Snowden being anally raped.

SoftShell says

Why do you hate the police?

Actually, I don't hate the police. They are necessary. I hate criminal cops, which unfortunately make up the majority of the police in our country. I don't know whether or not it has always been this way. Perhaps the militarization of our police force has made it more corrupt. I would have no problem with an honest, ethical police force. We just haven't seen that in at least 30 years.

SoftShell says

Why only three letters and four numerals?

Only three letters because my real name is "Dan". Four numerals because the username "dan" was already taken. The numerals are random. I just hit the keyboard once to produce them. Don't read much significance into my username. I don't even use it to log in, so I don't even remember what the numerals are.

SoftShell says

What the fuck is wrong with you?

I live in a world populated by idiots. Those idiots have too much influence on how the world operates.

I'm not a fan of Lincoln either. However, he is credited with ending slavery in America. Snowden certainly did more to advance liberty than any president at least since Lincoln.

Of course, every other nation in the world got rid of slavery without causing a Civil War, and Lincoln himself campaigned in the South on keeping slavery and didn't give a rat's butt about the slaves (he only cared about preserving the Union). And there were other things bad about Lincoln as well.

Side note: Ironically, the British Empire got rid of slavery before America did.

Yep, Lincoln wasn't kind to the Native Americans, much like most other presidents, even ones considered good like Jackson and Teddy Roosevelt.

Well if your interest is in weakening/destroying the power of the United States then I see where you are coming from and Snowden is your man. I personally prefer that we, warts and all, remain the big dog.

The genocide of native Americans is not in dispute, what are the other "many genocides" you are refering to? Anything current?

Right!

It does suck that American soldiers are so grotesquely incompetent superiority requires spending up to 30X countries with the same land mass to protect, 11X the second place country in our defense pact, and 4X the second place country.

Fortunately to quote Joseph Stalin "quantity has a quality all its own."

Too bad it isn't enough to stand up to military geniuses like Osama bin Laden who took down the greatest country in history using just 19 foot soldiers armed with box cutters.

Genocide is so old fashioned.
Why kill when you can incarcerate and MAKE SOME MONEY?

1 in three Black Men in America will go to prison in their lifetime.

I don't buy the argument that transparency and accountability in government makes us weak. I don't buy the argument that lawfulness in government will destroy our country. No where in history has transparency or applying the laws to government officials ever caused the downfall of a state. Lack of transparency and the corruption resulting from not prosecuting government agents for crimes has brought down many states and empires including Rome. America is much like Rome right before its fall.

What Snowden did, made the world and the United States safer, by making us safe from enemies within. All it takes is one crazy president who thinks god wants him to launch a first strike, and it's all over.

As for genocide, if Germany killed everyone in Britain and then killed everyone in Spain, that would be considered two genocides. Genocide is the systematic killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. The Native Americans were many ethnic groups and nations just like Europe. As such, America committed many genocides, and these genocides happened at different times over two centuries. Many generations of Americans bear that guilt.

Jane, you ignorant slut. Committing perjury before Congress is a crime. So is spying on all U.S. citizens. And neither of those things are about foreigners, who are evidently subhuman in your pitiful little mind.

Oh, and since it's the Christmas season, I'll remind you that Jesus was a foreigner from the Middle East.
