It's rather more complicated than that in actuality. Yeah sure the mosque down the street might get built a little a time as they get money. But at high levels you can't build anything really big without finance. It's creeping into the lower levels steadily. I have friends from Turkey, and everyone uses credit cards. The difference is if someone gets deeply in a hole, they feel really shamed about it and will try to avoid anyone finding out. Suicides are a reality over it. Over here people just laugh and walk away.
