One disagreement on the first video... When the woman talks about liberals hypocritically accepting Obama's prosecution of whistleblowers, she should say LEFTISTS. Liberals hate Obama for the exact same reasons we hate Bush.
I bet it's because both sides don't care about evil themselves, they just want exclusive right to evil.
It's a screwed up mentality out there, sociopath galore. Well, you understand this better than I do.
PBS Frontline: "How Did the Government Come to Spy on Millions of Americans?"
Frontline interviewed several whistleblowers who paid a heavy price to protect the American people and the republic. Most Americans have never heard of them.
That sure explains all the dislikes I get.
I wouldn't say all, but certainly some, for example, the dislike you got almost immediately after posting the above.

Lets not get distracted by small things from the more important topic at large. :)
for example
No, Forthood is a troll who got kicked off the SFGate website and then came here. His secret shame keeps drawing his stunted mind back to San Francisco, even though he lives in Reseda. His primary motivation is to fap along with Bop69, when they can't find Larry Craig in a public toilet. They pretend then that they are the victims of persecution, which is true only in the sense that they are victims, but not in the way that they pretend. They are perpetrators caught in a vicious cycle, and you only enable them by encouraging them. Forthood is as vile as Larry Craig, and his pretense otherwise is a sham.
I've never been to SFGate.
Trolls lie so they can continue trolling. I shouldn't even bother replying, but in this instance I will.
What is it with you vilifying me and just flat out insulting me using some very harsh words out there?
Everyone can see why Forthood vilifies strangers including using very harsh words, so he doesn't fool anyone other than himself. It isn't groovy; it's a pathetic nuisance, like sharing a bus with a drunk vagrant who pisses all over himself and craps his own pants and stinks up the whole ride for everyone. Eventually the people in charge of SFGate kicked Forthood off their bus, and so he stumbled onto PatNet instead.
Still, both videos are great and get to the heart of several issues including why whistleblowers are persecuted, the hypocrisy of the state, and why killing and dehumanization are much harder the more personal and hands on it is.
If your interested in Evil, perhaps you should watch as the Terrorists
Slit the throat of our fellow US Citizens and decapitating their heads...
You talk of "killing and dehumanization".... whose side are you on ?

Laugable... typical Journalist crap... so full of holes its sad...
And how exactly do you distinguish a US Citizen from a Non US Citizen on the Internet...
I have yet to hear anyone of you come up on the answer ?
whose side are you on ?
Humanity's. This is something a small-minded caveman like you could never understand.
Humanity's.

Just like Chamberlains ... "Peace in our time" bullshit !

Why start with Chamberlain? The real cause of WW2 was our intervention in WW1 tat did not concern us in the least bit, allowing the Allies to win instead of having to negotiate a White Peace.

Basically, we do already what we accuse the Chinese of planning to do.
Dan, this bud's for you:
“Some people will cheer for the end of control that connectivity and data-rich environments engender. They are the people who believe that data wants to be free and that greater transparency in all things will bring about a more just, safe and free world. For a time, WikiLeaks' cofounder Julian Assange was the world's most visible ambassador for this cause, but supporters of WikiLeaks and the values it champions come in all stripes, including right-wing libertarians, far-left liberals and apolitical technology enthusiasts, While they don't always agree on tactics, to them, data permanence is a failsafe for society. Despite some of the known negative consequences of this movements (threats to individual security, ruined reputations and diplomatic chaos), some free-information activists believe the absence of a delete button ultimately strengthens humanity's progress toward greater equality, productivity and self-determination. We believe, however, that this is a dangerous model, especially given that there is always going to be someone with bad judgment who releases information that will get people killed. This is why governments have systems and valuable regulations in place that, while imperfect, should continue to govern who gets to make the decision about what is classified and what is not.â€
We believe, however, that this is a dangerous model, especially given that there is always going to be someone with bad judgment who releases information that will get people killed.
Which is greater, the number of people killed because of governments not being accountable for their crimes or the number of people killed because government secrets are revealed? History consistently demonstrates that the former is many orders of magnitude larger than the later. If one wants to limit death, torture, and suffering, clearly betting on transparency is wiser than betting on a few individuals with immense conflict of interests doing what is ethical and right for society as a whole.
Stalin, Hitler, and Mao each killed more people than all terrorists and all criminals in all of human history put together. The amount of death and destruction that well-organized and well-funded governments can unleash is far greater than any terrorist organization could ever dream of unleashing. Any rational person would fear the structured evil of government more than the chaotic evil of terrorism. It's like comparing a Tie Fighter to the Death Star.
And ultimately any nation who's security depends on secrecy and opaqueness has no real security because secrets ultimately always get out. This is why the professionals who deal with security in computers and networks always say, No security through obscurity. This mantra has been validated countless times over the past 50 years of computing.
Excellent video discussions. Too bad the conservatives on this site won't learn anything from these videos.
