Bush was elected twice, only a Gay Liberal having an identity crisis would think otherwise.
They took cocaine out of coke because they thought freud's theories were sexist. Which led to high fructose corn syrup being used in coke and now we have the obesity epidemic. Now they are trying to solve this problem that they caused by banning everything over 4oz of the beverage. Incidentally in hip hop community, coke dealers are knows as "white girl" hustlers....

It's supposed to be immutable. In fact the more a Republican squirms to shake that bad Voodoo from them, it releases a pheromone that attracts other Liberals to chime in and sends out a signal to Facebook for all Global Libtards to chime in pipe up calling the offender a racist too.

White racist in south ----> republican
is not the same as
white republican in south ------>racist
I am not implying that at all.
MY intent was not to push your buttons by reminding you of this fact, that I understand bothers you (that says something good about you).
MY reason for bringing it up is that it is the best example in recent decades of a huge shift in the composition of political parties. THe entire part of the white south that was pro segregation (maybe my referring to them as racist is a little presumptuous - but it's the way I see it), that is the people that used to be in that camp as democrats, are now republicans.
My intent was to point the best example I could of the composition of political parties changing in just a few decades, because Captaindenial was hanging on to his false belief about Lincoln the republican, as if that has ANYTHING to do with who republicans are today. Quite the opposite is in fact true.
And yes, Chris MAthews makes the point very well here.

YOu should read it Captain. And you should read my comment more carefully, before you accuse me of calling you a racist or even suggesting that republicans are generally racist (I never said that). Funny who the people are that call out others on their reading comprehension skills, or lack there of.
By the way, the last 50 years have made such a big difference, that if you wanted to say that the party of Ike, especially in the south, was the same party as Lincolns republicans, it would be far closer to true than saying it now. But even by that time, democrats had taken over as being the more progressive party (because of FDR).
I don't consider myself that much of an expert on politics or history, but I'm guessing that Teddy Roosevelt was probably the last time that republicans were seen as the more progressive, and the more anti- big business political party.

I lean liberal.
A true liberal doesn't "lean". I'm open to both sides of the issue, but I lean anti-slavery isn't exactly a liberal mantra.
I'm a true independent that leans liberal. Being a die hard liberal or a conservative is like a religion. I like to go by the issues.

One thing of remarkable insight on this thread is how petty conservative complaints are. Conservatives are bitching and moaning about limits of the serving sizes of sodas, frozen foods, and fast food culture.
That's true, they are bitching about it. Liberals bitched about their large sizes.
Liberals complaints about conservatives are genocide, slavery, world-wide pollution, police brutality, and the sexual brutalization of people.
I don't know any conservatives who supports genocide or slavery. Now you are bitching about them bitching, when they really aren't bitching.
Pollution - I agree. I bitch about too much pollution every day.
police brutality - I don't have a problem with it as long as it is directed to die hard criminals. In fact, I support it.

Abraham Lincoln -- who by the way was no hero and has been greatly cartoonified -- would not be a republican today. Not a fat chance. Hell, he'd be kick out of the party for being a leftist loon.
His pansy soft views on pardons and the death penalty alone would get him heckled and thrown out of a bagger convention.
Reagan was soft on Communism too. Why didn't he just blow them up instead of START and disarmament? Pussy! And don't get me start on his gun-grabbing!
The only explanation I can think of is Tip O'Neill. But how did he get to both Lincoln AND Reagan?
