Even if its not the retail juggernaut you remember as a kid, Sears is still a great place to find a range of products at all price levels. A lot of the hard goods sold at its 1,320 locations pass through Consumer Reports test labs, including appliances, power equipment, and batteries from Kenmore, Craftsman, and DieHardthree brands owned by Sears Holding. Judging from our latest Ratings, there are plenty of reasons to keep Sears on your list of go-to retailers. But we also turned up some duds, so there will also be times when youll want to visit another big-box...

Yeah, I laugh when I read all the vitriol yelling at WalMart. All you need to do is look at history (which far too many ignore) to see the various giants (in retail and other areas) that have either vanished or have shrunk to a midget of what they once were. Remember Woolworths? How about Montgomery Wards? Sears, KMart. AMC motors. WorldCom. Enron. The list is HUGE. These were companies that looked to be 'taking over' whatever niche they operated in. Made it almost impossible for small operations (read Mom and Pop) to compete. So when the libs start screaming about WalMart, I just laugh and look at history.
