I'd be happy with the San Fransisco wage, but not if I had to live in that stinkhole California. The South Florida average wage quoted is pathetic. It's not even a living wage down here. Luckily I'm closer to the Fransisco wage than what they call the South Florida wage.
I've heard that the cost of living, especially real estate, in San Fransisco is so high that even $150k/yr doesn't qualify you for a single family house. Don't know if that's true, though.
