Let me first preface this little story by saying that when I say "Everyone..." I am aware that I don't know "everyone," so I'm taking a bit of literary license here. (the reason I say this is because when someone comes to me and says, "Everyone says..." my standard response is, "You don't know 'everyone,'" which thoroughly pisses them off and often stops the conversation from going any further. I highly recommend this as a method of ending conversation with preteen girls). But I digress.

Everyone knows the legend of Clive Bundy, a guy who lives on a parcel of land that he calls a "ranch" (it's a few acres) and grazes his cattle for free on the BLM land.

Everyone knows that he was hailed as a hero for the anti-gov movement. He does have a point - the government has repeatedly tried to stop him from grazing or pay up - or both. Even though the ranchers have been squeezed out of grazing by being issued less grazing rights while being charged more, even though there are millions of acres that are empty and can easily be viewed as fodder for fires (grazing could help cut down on that), other ranchers have paid up but not dear Cliven, who is above the law. Just ask him. Wild horses - not native to the West - run free out there, but cattle are supposed to create a problem? But once again, I digress. Forgive me, for I'm a woman and do that a lot...

Everyone knows that Clive was a legend in his own mind up until the time that he made horribly racist comments; even Faux News "reporters" distanced themselves from him. He also had harbored a couple of freakish killers who were asked to leave his compound due to their bizarre statements, so they went to Vegas and shot themselves 2 cops and an innocent bystander in an attempt to start a revolution. This reflected poorly on Mr. Bundy, who had allowed them to stay and be married on his property.

Approx 48 hours after the stand-off that stopped traffic - the one with brave armed self-appointed guards who placed women up front so that if the feds shot anyone, they'd shoot the women first - a woman was traveling the speed limit on I-15 when she hit an animal owned by Mr. Bundy. There were several of his cattle in the road, and the woman wasn't able to avoid hitting them. She was pretty busted up, and is now suing him for failure to corral his animals.

Remember that these animals are illegally grazing on the land up the road from there, but the area is not open range. There is no reason that these animals should have been on the road. Mr. Bundy doesn't believe in the government, and doesn't recognize their laws. He's certainly not paying for the right to use the land.

Bundy's response to the lawsuit?

"Bundy had not been served with notice of the lawsuit Wednesday, but he was familiar with the accident. He said it was his cow that was hit, but he denied any responsibility. He said it is the state’s job to maintain the fence that keeps his livestock off the interstate.

“It’s a state problem. It’s not our problem,” Bundy said. “We really feel bad when it happens. We sure don’t want it to happen. But we’re not liable.”

"Bundy said Wednesday that technically he is within his rights to make a claim of his own against Beck.

“The person whose car hit that cow is liable to me,” he said."

BEST. QUOTE. EVER.

Bundy's cow was on the freeway, creating a hazard in an area that is not open range. If you fail to corral your animals, you are liable for the damage that they cause.

She was driving the speed limit in an area that is two-lane freeway in both directions - it's one thing to watch for debris in the road, another thing to see a large dark animal against the backdrop of the dark desert night. The animals were in both lanes and there was no way to avoid hitting them.

So, yes, it's Bundy's fault that he allowed his animals to roam free in an area that doesn't normally have animals roaming free. This doesn't even take into consideration that he doesn't pay grazing rights and has no authority to allow his animals to roam free anyway. Open range is further out in the desert - certainly not on the freeway.

I guess it's somebody else's fault when a person hits a tree, building, guardrail, another car, cat, dog, squirrel or runs off the road??

If the person builds a tree, building or guardrail in the middle of the road (or allows them to roam free), yes it's their fault. If someone parks their car in the middle of the road, it's their fault if someone hits it. A cat, dog, or squirrel wouldn't have caused the damage that Bundy's cow caused.

Do you even read the shit you post? And Who's drunk?

Hmmm... Isn't SHE suppose to be in control of her own vehicle at ALL
times??

So, it's Bundy's fault SHE hit the cow?? Was Bundy in her car?

I guess it's somebody else's fault when a person hits a tree, building,
guardrail, another car, cat, dog, squirrel or runs off the road?? But a cow,
blame Bundy!!

It is the law. if not open range, you don't want cows /horses etc out there in numbers in freeways. There are areas in the western states that are open range, where cows roam free and get priority-it is the responsibility of motorists to watch out and beware of cows.

But Bundy is the supreme example of welfare gone wild. Bum who lives of state's land . I guess I can go and build a house in national forest land and if somebody gets hurt there-threaten to sue them??

I watched a movie called Red State that depicted such characters in a very accurate light. I highly recommend this as a nightcap with a couple of shots of JD.

The governement should neither be hated nor loved. It should be watched, observed and modified as necessary by legal means unless the government itself resorts to illegal and illegitimate means to remain in power (as was the case in mexico for PRI party for a 70 year period).

If he was a gay organic cheese maker, he'd have an army of Liberal Hirsute Lesbian lawyers defending his case before the supreme court.

Do you have anything against gay organic cheese makers?

The people criticizing Cliven Bundy aren't doing so because he owns cows. They are criticizing him for
1. Breaking the law.
2. Having an armed standoff with cops after having broken the law.
3. Being a racist asshole.

Granted, #3 isn't illegal like the other two, but it's still worth criticizing.

Now if a gay organic cheese makers did any of those three things, liberals would criticize him as well.

If he had a bullshit green argument then he wouldn't be breaking the law.
Tree huggers broke all three of those laws. They were racist against white republicans.
