It should count for something that he ate them. A whole raccoon family ran out in front of my truck one time. I don't know how many I killed but only the coyotes and ravens got to get in on the feast.
hunting out of season
And raccoon hunting season in NJ is exactly when???
And what's your daily bag limit?
Inquiring minds want to know.
This is illegal because???
Animal cruelty.
We all know it's not cruel to kill and eat cows or chickens, but racoons...
It's also illegal to eat horse in California.
They taste just like chicken!
Stole my line, can you make hats from them as well?
That's the DIY spirit! Why pay $20 for organic beef at Whole Foods?
The world is crazy. They should give the man a contract with pest control, not attempt to lock him away! Pointy headed bureaucratic panty-waisted ninny fucks!
Detective Lt. Kevin Faller tells the Asbury Park Press a resident in the townhouse complex where Borykan lives reported finding animal carcasses.
A detective who gets a full pension is actually looking at dead raccoons???
Road kill is fair game.
So, if you want to eat raccoon legally in NJ, you trap it first, then run it over.
This is the type of bullshit that only the US is capable of producing...
"ohhh he killed a raccoon for food...."
The hypocrisy in this country is amazing.
Cows, chickens, lamb and pigs are all legal to slaughter...
Yet we condemn this man?
A hunting license?
You need permission to hunt for food so you don't starve?
This is not a free country at all and anyone that thinks so is a dumb stupid worthless fuck.
NJ man accused of eating raccoons
Road kill is fair game.
Just to clarify, CallItCrazy, I meant for eating and nothing else. Zip up your pants and back away from the dead raccoon.
Isn't raccoon meat like a bushmeat? Who knows what kind of new virus you can get from it.

You can get viruses and parasites from wild hogs, wild bears and wild deers.
That is your choice to take the risk.
That's what Freedom is about.
We don't need "Big Brother" government. You make your own choices concerning your own health.

Yes, in understand that :). I am not in favor of the arrest. But a bit of awareness doesn't hurt.

Round worms and rabies to start with.

You can get Salmonella from store bought chicken just the same. Presumably it was cooked well done before eating.
So what we have learned from this thread is to one kill the raccoon then run over it with your car so as not to get a ticket for killing coons out of season, then cook the meat to well done so as not to get one of them pestilence thingies.

To be on the side of the law you would need to capture it alive and then runover it - Though in some places you need a license to pickup road kills. (land of the free kind of thing).
Also remember to have a large caliber weapon pointed at it when you pick it up, in case it has rabies and springs at you just when you think it's dead.

Good safety tip, I have found that to be prudent whe dealing with all animals four legged or two legged
Also animals that eat meat themselves may carry prions, like in the mad-cows case.
Prions may not be destroyed by simple cooking methods.
It's illegal to skirt mandated starving to death under Obama.
If he decrees you must starve to death, then damn it, you can't go out and eat the critters.
Just go in a fucking corner and DIE already.
