Errc, you seem to have a real hate on for cops. Maybe your experiences with LEO have been mostly negative? I guess mine go both ways. I've gotten my share of traffic tickets, but also been let off a few times. I once got stopped for no reason, held for hours in a cop car, and my rental was searched because a police dog "hit" on it. I was shitting bricks because it's a rental, how the fuck do I know what was in it for sure? But nothing was found, though they did go through all my luggage and turn the car inside out. That was the worst experience, and it could have been avoided if marijuana was legal, because that's what they were looking for.
I also know several cops. They are family men who want to go home to their kids every night, have their own dreams, and are decent people.
I don't like this new trend where the media stokes a new race war over every cop on black incident. I think it's causing racial tensions. The Tuesday after the ferguson riots, I actually got hassled at work by a black guy who I was trying to help. He seemed convinced that because im white, I was in on keeping the black man down or some stupid shit. It took some talking and relating before he settled down and started treating me like a person again.
I've never been hassled like that before by a black man, and I really do blame all the racial action of the night before.
No matter what your feeling about cops in general, or the situation, stirring up inter racial hate is NOT good. So I'm not supporting anything that even resembles that.
I don't have a hate on for cops. I'm disgusted at the attitude of my fellow citizenry towards this rapid and blatant descent to fascism. We Americans are supposed to distrust the government.

I do find it disturbing that your opinion of a good run in with the police, is you breaking the law, getting caught x and then them deciding to let you go, unpunished.

THe only thing that stirred up racial hate is not indicting cops for killing unarmed men is situations that defied common sense. Incompetence in cops is unnacceptable, and yes, unfortunatley when the victim is black, some people assume too quickly that race was a factor.

Of course not, but these two situations (Brown and Garner) involved perps who chose to escalate the situation. The police also escalate in response.
I've never been beaten or shot by cops, but then again, I've never been stupid enough to get physical with a cop. Let's just give these two sad dead men the Darwin Award and be done with it.

Garner did nothing wrong, nor did he escalate the situation. Brown was murdered from a distance, after being assaulted by officer wilson. The lone eyewitness that actually saw what happened, insisted wilson was the aggressor

I disagree with this. The police often escalate on arrival. They have been trained to insist on immediate compliance to their barked commands. Often anyone not able to comply or not in the mood to be verbally abused will find themselves on the ground tased/sprayed/shot…..and then charged with "resisting" or "assault".
You can be charged with Assaulting an Officer for reflexively pulling away when a cop grabs your arm.

There are over 460,000 local cops in the country (not including state, federal, military etc).
So if you're a cop, according to your numbers in a given year you have a bout a one in 3000 chance of being killed in a given year. With much of that risk being tied to how much time they spend in cars. Some of those cops drive a little too crazy when they are rushing to the scene of a crime.
Yes, that is very simple. Really I get it, that it's not an issue for me as long as I don't break the law or resist arrest. And I won't do the former. If I do, I won't do the latter.
But that has absolutely nothing to do with whether it's okay for a cop to kill someone who breaks the law or resists arrest.

Interesting, and if true the NYPD has some serious explaining and reforming to do. Doesn't change the fact that they didn't kill Garner. He died of a heart attack. Charge them with the crimes they actually committed against the man!
