Mish you've been good lately but here you're sounding not too bright again.

Single payer not working in Vermont proves nothing.

Common sense should tell anyone with an IQ over 85 that of course "medicare for all" would work if set up properly.

What would "set up properly" mean? First it would mean everyone is on it, rather than some keeping their health care from their employer etc. EVERYONE. Without this requirement it would be a mess, probably one of the biggest problems in VErmont.

You could still have supplemental plans, even expensive ones that cover everything. But these must be structured as supplemental to the medicare funded healthcare that everyone receives.

Why do I assert that common sense makes it obvious that this would work?

Because it's obvious that by far the most expensive care that people receive in their life already occurs during the time covered by medicare. IF that works, how can it not work to fund all healthcare the same way ?

I'm sure there would be ways to set this up so that it was efficient relative to yes, the significant tax increase ( THAT GOES ALONG WITH HEALTH INSURANCE REDUCTION - TO ZERO FOR MANY). FOr example maybe it should be set up to cover major medical, that is surgeries and major procedures, including screening and prevention oriented procedures, hospital stays and so on, but pay nothing towards visits to the doctor because the kids have the sniffles, or because you have a pulled muscle.

Right wingers don't want this, and want to assert that it doesn't work, because:

1) they don't want to subsidize those whose medicare taxes don't pay the value of the health care they receive.

2) they believe that the quality of health care that will be available to them, with their current Cadillac plans, may far exceed the quality of the health care they can get with a medicare for all system.

In other words it's just an other example of "fuck you, I've got mine."

Oh looky, here comes another knuckle dragging neanderthal liberal to tell us who's who and what's what!

Aww that's cute. I referred to the right wing talk radio guys he worships as Neanderthals (in another thread), so captain dimbulb (losing his creativity a little) decides he'll show me how it feels and refer to progressives as Neanderthals. That's funny. The provably more intelligent side of the political spectrum that are often labeled progressives, he wants to label as unevolved.

Smooth move there Captain.
