Good article. I like Sowell's essays though I don't always agree with him.

"Our schools and colleges are laying a guilt trip on those young people whose parents are productive, and who are raising them to become productive. What is amazing is how easily this has been done, largely just by replacing the word “achievement” with the word “privilege.”

Yep.

I don't think that's coffee you're smelling.... Did a horse just pass by?

Are you saying Thomas Sowell and Murray Rothbard are selling horse shit?

Again 3 threads about ideas and memes, interesting study in blind spots.

Concern with other people is called good citizenship and neighborliness, a sign of a moral and expanding society.

"You're on your own" is bad citizenship and self-centeredness, a sign of a failing society.

Enlightenment philosophers warned about celebrating base emotions like greed and callousness.Reactionaries take pride in their gluttony and deliberate negligence.

The latter usually ends up chasing down a declining pot of productivity, looking for the last first spring egg of the sooty tern, until all the trees are gone.

Aristotle's unmoved mover in that motion comes from something exterior to the thing/person

Okay, so where does the unmoved mover's motion come from?

As for Thomism proving anything, where is the Summa Theologica is this "proof". Is it after the whole logical proof that since Eve was made from Adam's rib that she should naturally be subservient to him?

Since the keyboard is moved by you it would be you or you could say your body. If you say the latter you could not say you hands, as you could not say I will cut my hands off and they will type on the keyboard, right? You would have to say something exterior to the body, right? Who is exterior to the body? You could say your brain, which is the acceptable answer in libby circles but the brain is not really exterior to the body so it is not really an answer, so what is exterior to the body that causes it to move? Hint it is not God.

Nope

So it's before it then? Or after the whole masturbation is worse than rape thing?

Hint: Aquinas needs to check his premises.

(It's also why proof by logic and a priori reasoning is inferior to the scientific method)

WTF this does not enter into the realm of religion, you insist on conflating these two. Of course Aquinas talked about religion, but we are talking about God. Did the Wogster give you some of his stupid pills?

We're talking about Thomism's foundational work, the Summa Theologica. From where did Thomas Aquinas get his premises from?

Aristotle

Aristotle mentioned the Adam and Eve myth? And proposed masturbation as the greater offense against the Trinity? Wow. Aristotle knew of Christianity before Christ, and a lot about the OT, too. Who knew?

National Review, HA!HA!HA!

Careful - ThomasWong1986, a deep and normative thinker on economics and the nature of modern polity, has written many a treatise elaborating on bedrock insights promulgated by the National Review.
