Yep. States Rights is just a codeword for it's original intent, to keep the Darkies in their place without interference from Northern and Western dogooders.
It's why the Confederate Constitution is almost a complete word-for-word copy of the US Constitution, except for the permanent status of Slavery.
It's why State Rights come up primarily when discussing integrated schools, equal funding for students, "Literacy" Tests for Voting, and of course before the Civil War and during Reconstruction.
Republicans always claim to be for states rights and against a large federal government that interferes with local government, but that simply is not true. Republicans don't give a rat's ass about states rights and only use that argument when trying to support their masters: greedy, large corporations who don't want to obey the law or be legally liable for harm they cause.
Republicans against states' right to decide gun laws
Republicans against states' right to make drug laws
Republicans against states' right to protect their citizens against toxic chemicals
Yep, whenever a state might exercise its right in a way that goes against the Republican agenda, it's out the window with states rights.
