I dont think the construction hurdles are significant compared to other technologies that are already out there, says Carl Brockmeyer, Oerlikons head of business development. From a technical point of view, its not a challenge. We are used to much higher and harsher applications.

This is one of the small number of ideas to come out of the tech industry which actually might improve civilization substantially.

It's also a rare example of something we could do which requires few to no ancillary innovations, and is doable with existing technology.
