Pretty cool car. I drove one a lot 2012-2014 when I housesat for a friend . . .

I don't really understand* Nissan's incentives on the 2015s right now (they're pretty great) . . . buyers get $5000 off MSRP from Nissan plus $10,000 to $13,000 in gov't rebates.

I chose the lease option since in 2018 there's going to be 2nd gen Leafs that will kill the resale value for this car.

With the lease deal, Nissan essentially kicks back the $7,500 tax credit to the lessee plus another $3425 off MSRP, plus the state rebate covers the initial payment and for me the additional $3000 local rebate covers all the dealer BS and then some, leaving the $200/mo lease for 3 years.

Nissan provides two free years of charging and I'm going to be saving $30/week on gas now, plus the Leaf's scheduled maintenance is just rotating the tires every 7500 miles and changing the brake fluid every 30,000.

Adding in $150/mo in gas savings to the total cost of the lease plus buyout in 3 years, the monthly cost will be around $40 I think.

Not bad, a lot better than the old Miata, which was on its last legs . . .

* well, it's the end of the model year and the 2016s will offer longer ranges (20 more miles) for $2000 more, but for my use the 80-100 mile range I'm getting with the 2015 is perfect.

Pretty amazing. The government kicks in almost half the price of the car with the leasing company tax games. Why is the government borrowing money every day to do this? It's a hell of an expensive way to cut down on oil use. Just bumping the gas tax a buck would save a lot more oil and bring in a bunch of revenue rather than new debt.
