They are wrong.

True Believer? Why Donald Trump Is The Choice Of The Religious Right

That's right — the candidate currently leading among the most faith-filled voters is a twice-divorced casino mogul, who isn't an active member of any church, once supported abortion rights, has a history of crass language — and who says he's never asked God's forgiveness for any of it.

"I've come to see somebody that's not scared to say what he thinks, and he thinks like I think," gushed Joe Smart, a security guard who was at a Trump event in Greenville, S.C., last month. "He's religious, and from what I hear, he's going to change the White House back to Christianity. I pray every night that our nation will come back to God."

Yep, the Christian right is voting for an adulterous polygamist who made his money in casinos. They sure are easy to fool. Dumb as rocks.

I disagree with this article. From what I can tell reading Conservative Forums and Sites, the dumb religious right is more into Cruz. All they do is talk about how Trump is pro-choice. They believe a White Shoe Boy and Harvard Lawyer, a Cuban-Canadian, is going to finally ban abortion and put the Ten Commandments in Every Classroom when he gets into the White House.

They are actually terrified of Trump because they don't want a nominee who isn't all about the Culture Wars, but about economics and foreign policy.

Trump is more the candidate of the Rustbelt Working Class. If Evangelicals are pulling for him, it's because they're voting economics and not religion.

You're probably right, but I'm sure a lot are for Trump too.

But Dan, fyi, the religious right refers to primarily evangelicals, Baptists etc. This is not traditionally what WASP means. When I hear the term WASP, I think of bankers, New England white folk, white corporate maanagers and so on. It has the word protestant in it, but they aren't even necessarily all that religious. These are people that look down on the religious right too (but are happy to have them voting republican). WASPS vote republican for tax reasons, corporate profits reasons, and because they are often selfish assholes. Some may be evangelical types, but they are not generally who we're talking about when we talk about idiots of the religious right. In other words they aren't mutually exclusive, but they are very different groups.

Basically just the title I was taking a little issue with.

A lot of wasps would probably view Trump as a Wasp wanna be. Almost a Wasp. He's nouveau riche (not old money), with tacky gaudy taste and a pompous attitude. For example when he bought his big Palm Beach mansion, as much as he wanted to, he couldn't really fit in with the old money wasp community there.

MAybe after doing a term or two as President, those old money pricks will realize that he's just as much of a big shot as they are, and he has just as much class as them. They aren't any better than him !!
