Like Judge Judy says, you don't pay your rent, you get kicked out. Did it occur to you to get a job? I'm assuming you're not homeless today?
30 bucks even 20 years ago seems kinda low. Either you got one helluva bargain, or it was one helluva dump.
The Hotel That Made Me Homeless
No, YOU made yourself homeless by not paying for services that you utilized.
It's always someone else's fault.
How long were you down on your luck?
When I was younger and found my self temporarily without lodging. I just looked at it as a temporary set back.
Knock on wood, I've never been homeless, and I've never had to stay at anyones house long enough to wear out my welcome.
I arrived in San Jose,California on September 11,1996 by Greyhound bus from Houston. Next door to the bus station was the Plaza Hotel. I checked in there. The room was $30.00 per night. When my money ran out, I was kicked out on the streets by the owner. I became homeless. Irony or ironies, the Plaza Hotel went broke and closed. Now the city of San Jose is taking it over. It will be a home for the homeless.
