If it were available, tens of thousands of Americans would not needlessly die.
I've got to call bullshit on this. Marijuana is readily available and easier to get than Fentanyl. I'm not sure that Prince even had gotten this drug legally either, so it makes no difference where MJ is legal or not if you're buying your prescription drugs without a prescription (i.e. illegally).
Just for the record, I don't think any drugs should be illegal, but we should discourage the use of the more destructive ones, not marijuana.

And it's equally easy to get a felony for possessing even small amounts due to the "presumed intent to distribute" laws that violate due process. Some people prefer not to spend 20 years in jail.
Fentanyl IV has a greater propensity to induce respiratory arrest than other narcotics. He shoulda stuck with morphine, heroin, or demerol.
Prince died because he was a DRUG ADDICT, not because of pain.
If nobody noticed, narcotic addicts and drug addicts in general are in a lot of pain when they don't get the drugs they are habituated to because they are in withdrawal.
The Doctor Feelgoods who claim to be addiction experts or pain experts, especially those who specialize in celebrities, are often as not just clever con artists and pushers who exploit the celebrities' vulnerabilities due to their addictions.
The Hollywood producer and notorious addict Don Simpson had a "live in" addiction "expert", a doctor who was an addict himself, and was one of a network of doctors and psychiatrists who provided Simpson with drugs and cover.
The good doctor wound up dying of an overdose and his body was found in the shower of Simpson's pool house.
Yep, all the wonderful musicians who died from drug overdoses would still be alive if only MJ was legal. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison... all of the guys and gals who had to resort to heroine and barbiturates because they absolutely couldn't get some weed to ease their pain.
Prince had severe back pain. He wasn't taking opioid fentanyl recreationally.

Riiiiiiight.
The official report is in. Prince died from an overdose of opioid fentanyl, a drug closely related to heroine. And prince is just one of tens of thousands who die each year from this legal drug, and that number is rising.
Marijuana is an effective pain stopping drug that no one has ever overdosed from. If it were available, tens of thousands of Americans would not needlessly die. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
