BLOOMFIELD — A 62-year-old man was beaten with a crowbar by a complete stranger who allegedly took issue with the man's Donald Trump T-shirt, police said Tuesday.

The man was walking on West Passaic Avenue at about 5:41 p.m. last Wednesday when a man he did not know pulled up in an older gray compact car, Bloomfield police said.

The driver questioned the 62-year-old about the Donald Trump shirt he was wearing, and then followed him into the parking lot of the Friendly's restaurant on Broad Street, police said.

"The motorist inquired why (the man) was wearing the shirt, directing profanities at him," Bloomfield Police spokesman Ralph Marotti said. "The (victim) continued to walk away as (the) motorist followed him."

The man then got out of his car with a crowbar, and during an altercation, struck the older man several times, authorities said.

It does seem to be true that the only people assaulting anyone for political reasons in the US are Democrats.

Where are the conservatives assaulting Hillary supporters? Does not happen.

But there seem to be many instances of people with Trump clothing or signs being assaulted by Hillary supporters.

2   Shaman   2016 Aug 9, 12:18pm

My theory is that the extremely leftist ministry of propaganda we call the mainstream media is giving people the idea that they have license to "correct" opposing political views by any means necessary.
If you tell me I'm wrong, have an argument to back yourself up.

Donald Trump just said, "Maybe second amendment people can stop Hillary judges" but yeah, it is liberals with calls to violence.

http://www.vox.com/2016/8/9/12415644/donald-trump-second-amendment-joke

Conservative "logic"
Individual acts of violence from the left represent the entire left, even though immediately disavowed by everyone on the left.

Actual calls for violence, over and over, from the GOP candidate don't count for anything.

Clearly a Hillary supporter and not a liberal. He would have probably assaulted the guy for wearing a Bernie or Bust t-shirt as well.

How the hell are HIllary's goons in any way, shape, or form liberal? I'm the most liberal person on PatNet and I want Trump to win. It's the best way to destroy the GOP and reform the Democrats.

Once again, your confusing the hateful leftists like TrigglyPuff for liberals. That's bad on you. A better title for this thread would have been More "liberal" tolerance.

May I be the first to say #TrumpLivesMatter?

Oh, you object that all lives matter and therefore we should ignore all these assaults? Clearly there is a disproportionate number of Trump supporters being attacked. To ignore that fact is just plain wrong.

Depends on your definition of liberal. From the Wikipedia:

Whereas classical liberalism emphasises the role of liberty, social liberalism stresses the importance of equality.

Further, I'd say that social liberalism stresses taking money from the wealthy and giving it to the poor. This can be good or bad.

Good: Taxing money gained by unproductive rent-seeking, such as rent on land.
Bad: Taxing money gained through productive effort and talent.

Yes, there's no way that this was a desperation move that some alt right asshole would do this to give Trump the closest thing to positive press he can get.

Further, I'd say that social liberalism stresses taking money from the wealthy and giving it to the poor.

The way that I would frame it is they have different priorities for government spending. Not even necessarily more spending. So called safety nets such as food stamps and even more so social security and medicare (that we pay special taxes for) should not be considered taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor.

But of course people who make incomes above the cost of living in poverty are going to be paying most of the taxes. It amazes me that some people like to cite the fact that families making under say 50K pay no federal taxes, while THEY DO PAY SOCIAL SECURITY PAYROLL TAXES that get spent by the government as if it's part of general tax revenues, allowing the rich to pay less. And then the republicans say "we can't afford these entitlements !"

I'm quite fine with taxing the talented and productive way more, if:

1) They have grown to where economies of scale or the level of talent take their success to an entirely different level. I'm talking Mark Zuckerberg, or anyone for that matter that's making millions per year.

2) THey live off investments from inherited wealth in any kinds of businesses, not just ones that we often refer to as "rents."

Tax rates should scale up once you're above 300K or so for a family. I know it is tricky, because what if they live in Manhatten, or SF, or what if they are football players or entertainers or for that matter anyone that has a short lived period of high income. So I can appreciate arguments against going too crazy with it. But maybe something like 50% for income from 300k to 500K, then 60% for 500k to 1 million, and then 70% on the part of annual income above that. Or something along those lines.

THOSE WHO OWN deserve the wealth they own and all the royalties that accrue from that wealth

its pretty simple. When a locale is mostly white, middle class educated, the regional politics will take the tax base and put it into municipal improvements, everything ranging from bridges to libraries, to legal infrastructure. That is the time to buy, because the tax payers(who may even be renters) will slowly improve the quality and value of the area. This is the point at which the real money gets in. These sorts of regions are always very white, usually religious(christian).

as the region improves, it becomes "desirable" (magically!), at this point the modern pattern is to begin to install liberal ideas- racial equality, feminism, multiculturalism.etc. They will even move in other groups to change the demographics of the area- advertising to gays, blacks anyone. This eventually leads to PEAK DESIRABILITY. Blacks will move in because they can restrain the police, gays will move in because they can restrain religious groups from criticizing them, etc. Rental rates climb precipitously. Value of property doubles, triples, quadruples. At this point, the real money begins to move out very slowly and clandestinely.

note that the original investors DIDNT PAY TO HAVE THIS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPED. They merely took the tax money of the individual owners and renters and improved the value of their own property with it!

The region is now a motley circus of idiots baffoons liberals communists homosexuals, feminists and assorted nitwits. People begin to mock the local culture as "eclectic" - but still liveable. As though the increasing insanity is some kind of joke to be set aside in favor of all the great local restaurants and artistic achievements. This is the period as the real money begins to move out or build fortresses(both legal and physical) to protect themselves from this poison culture.

Soon this culture starts to dominate. The tax base expands, tax liabilities expand, people dont notice at first that the mysterious "COST OF LIVING" is exploding! OMG WHAT HAPPENED? WHY SO EXPENSIVE. but many people have their lives rooted in the region(jobs, kids, friends, kids friends, kids schools) and can't leave. They can't quit their jobs, their houses are not as marketable as they were originally etc. They are MODERN DAY SERFS. Captives of "liberalism".

I think prostitution and having sex in public should be legal. Anyone else on board?

If it doesn't interfere with you rights, it should be legal.

rando says

Depends on your definition of liberal.

Conservatives want to misuse the definition of liberal because they oppose but cannot make any argument against liberalism, the anti-thesis of the social conservationism practiced by the American south. Redefining liberalism to be leftist hate propaganda is a straw man argument they hope to use to discredit, not the left, but the liberalism they could never take down through honest means.

Hahaha, says the butthurt Bernie supporter who refuses to vote against Trump.

I guess if you know for sure that Trump is going to lose, then a protest vote for Jill Stein or whomever makes sense. But if it were close, and you knowingly vote in indirectly for Trump to be PResident, then you shouldn't be throwing stones at Clinton voters as anti-American.

I still laugh every time I think about the 150.

BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD
For What It's Worth Lyrics

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Commie pinko red loving were the magic words to make anything disappear if it threatens supremacy of greater wealth and power.

You are conflating everything. The problem is not that there isn't enough redistribution from have to have-nots, there is plenty, but it is taken from the upper middle and upper class which builds, maintains, and provides everything. You are being played by your progressive elite sheisters while you claim to be smart. The majority of taxes is being paid by an increasingly smaller amount of people. Math simply is and cannot be argued with. The taxes are taken from the most productive and prevent them from making the transition to wealthy which they deserve, while protecting a small class of government-connected uber-wealthy and and an increasing base of have-nots thinking they are entitled to free shit. Ironically the intended and achieved inflation also prevents the lower, the middle and the upper class to move up in the same way. Do you think they give a shit if they are called commie pinkos, regressive lefty elite or right-wing asshole capitalists? They don't because they keep making more money while you tell hard working people that they should give more free shit to the have-nots who unfortunately more often than not do not deserve it. Classical divide and conquer. Nobody making an income below 500K should be paying more than 20% income tax, in fact a flat tax on everything would be best, including capital gains, while closing ALL loop-holes and deductions. Of course that would make lawyers and CPAs and to a large extent the IRS unemployed overnight and we can't let that happen, more unproductive work we have to protect.
