oh yes, before the evil white man arrived the ancient mexicans were mostly living in harmony with nature, smoking tobacco, farming corn and treating the womyn like princesses. the brown man never so much as caused even the slightest problem or insult to great Gaia. then came the white man, he STOLE the land from the Mexican. We need to reconquista this land. It will be wonderful. Of course, we can't even live in Mexico as it is, but that's irrelevant.
Ironic because these folks who deny their Indian ancestry treat the Indians as total shit.
Definitely witnessed this first hand growing up in boonies of NM. Many Chicanos are also quite racist against other native Americans as well

Coming back from the SFBA, I drove through El Paso on my way to San Antonio. I also got checked out by the border patrol. No big deal. They asked me where I was coming from and where I was going.
