For A Brief Moment I thought That I Had Lung Cancer

Everyone over the last week I had a health scare. some test results came back. It appeared that I might have a malignant node on one of my lungs. I braced myself for some bad news. A very senior lung specialist reviewed the result of my CT scan, He agreed with Elena's preliminary diagnosis that it was, most likely, benign. I do a follow-up CT scan in 90 days but the prognosis is good.
There is an object lesson here and something that I want to share with all of you. The whole story behind this began one year ago when I had severe pain in the lower part of my abdomen. I insisted on a visit to the emergency room. Please this is a very unpleasant place to go to. One should only go there if they are really very sick.
A CT scan was performed. A small node was detected in one of my lungs. The emergency room doctor told me to follow up in one year with another CT scan. I noted this in my calendar.
When the day arrived for the follow-up I contacted my excellent primary care physician and went for a CT scan. This was when the larger nodule almost 1 centimeter in diameter was detected.
What they found could have been the start of lung cancer. It's early detection would have led to me losing 1/3 of one lung but not my life.
Even with the best doctors and facilities one has to be a good patient. Watch details and do careful follow-up. As the actor Broderick Crawford used to say on the 1950's television series Highway Patrol: "The life you save may be your own."

Happy to hear its not the big C. As or ER - haven't been to one in decades and it would take a LOT to get me there.

Good to hear you are OK. Diagnostics for many cancers are not where they should be, e.g., pancreatic cancer, and it is only when symptoms appear that the underlying disease is uncovered, often when it is advanced. Keep exercising, eating well, and following up with your physician.

cancer is caused by poisonous food and other toxins we are exposed to every day
our FDA does nothing about it because they are all bought out by the same people that own our media

its completely obvious at this point how monopolized our media really is eg. TRUMP

they poison us, we get sick, then they make profits on the 'cure' in the form of more poison, chemotherapy

cancer was very rare prior to 1850

The Original Bankster says

Life expectancy has something to do with it, but attributing solely to longevity is probably a bit simplistic for some of reasons you mentioned; specifically, chemo can treat cancer but it also increases risk of future cancers, as does radiation from CT scanners, which, while useful, is overutilized in part due to defensive practice of medicine.
