In 2013, everything crumbled all at once, Makera Meng said. She and her husband ran a business — an international grocery store — in South Portland, Maine, where they also owned a home. But that year, her mom died of cancer, they lost the business and her husband moved to Cambodia, where she had emigrated from three decades earlier. After 10 years of owning it, she lost her home, too. Im a good citizen, I work hard and I pay taxes, she said. But she hasnt been able to catch a break. As a single mom raising four kids on...

If you refuse to build enough, don't be surprised or sorry for people who live outside.

Cry me a river. Just like people around here that cry about housing, fucking move if you can't afford it here the people that are working can't afford to subsidize you.

CA would be so much better if we just kicked out all the freeloaders.

Get rid of the density laws and tax land values, not property. Problem Solved!

Anyone ever see the movie "The Super" where the slumlord had to live in one of his own buildings?

That's my proposal...anyone who supports low income housing in any appreciable quantity...they need to also live in the housing.

I swear these people are just assholes...lets build free housing for deadbeat low lives just so long as it's not next door to me.

Go spend a few months living in the Tenderloin or the flats in Oakland before you open your yap about how we need govt sponsored housing.

Any republican that didn't pay cash for their shack should be executed.
We don't need rightwing burdens on america's back.

If we simply changed zoning laws to force ALL CITIES to allow mobile homes anywhere - this would go a long long way to affordable housing.

Wait, are you saying there won't be a future for the Tiny House community that I'm creating?

Sure there is. Just not next to my house. :)
