The left - once a beacon of free speech and non-violence - have become the free-speech oppressing brownshirts they claim to despise.

This is very true.

Hate and violence have become the exclusive property of the left. Which they justify by claiming their hate and violence is against hate and violence, and therefore it is perfectly OK.

The left has become the far right. What a weird world.

Every day reminds me one way or the other why I parted ways with the left long ago.

What are we talking here ? 3% of the left ? THe crazy SJWs ? What do they have to do with Bernie Sanders, who is the most left wing politician to get anywhere in the last 3 decades.

YOu're correct. But it's a tiny sliver of the left.

Where as the lunacy on the right ? It turns out to be possibly a majority of the right. (unless you want to admit that Hillary is basically a republican, and there hardly is any left in this country).

I think that the story somewhat organically developed with a life of its own.

I agree with you to a point. The crowd that was looking for reasons to justify their hate of Trump were happy to be fed another reason. And the people at the top knew that.

It's hard to say that quoting someone's own words is a smear. Maybe trump should stop giving them reasons to justify their hate and start laying out coherent consistent reasons he should be president for the people that aren't hillary nutcases. His positions are a mess and constantly changing yet he spends days at a time attacking everyone from beauty queens to the speaker of the house.

If trump can't bring together his own party to get him elected how is he going to bring together the country and run it? What magic is going to happen once he is elected that will make him actually a leader rather than a whiner blaming everyone else constantly?

You think Hillary is lower risk?

Yes. She is a lower risk. She is a neocon, and she wants world domination. But she is pragmatic. She is not interested in nuclear war, and she tolerates peaceful people from all groups. And I think that brings a certain stability. No guarantees, but she and Bill are not willing to risk the security of the USA for war with Russia.

Hillary has repeatedly promised, even during one of the debates, to implement a no-fly zone in Syria. This lunatic neocon posturing poses 100% risk of conflict with Russia.
According to Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, implementing a no-fly zone would REQUIRE war with Russia and Syria.
“Right now, Senator, for us to control all of the airspace in Syria it would require us to go to war, against Syria and Russia,” said Dunford in Senate testimony.

We don't know about Trump but if you vote for Hillary you are most certainly casting a vote for War, endless and escalating War.
Own that when the shit kicks off.
