The biggest problem is that Gwen and Judy lead a palace coup after Jim Lehrer left in 2013, dispatching the male competition in the form of Ray Suarez and relegating Jeffrey Brown to report the gay news for 3 min at the end of the program (yes, yes I am being intentionally offensive. Not that there is anything wrong with that.) And Margaret Warner got permanently banished to Ulan Baatar or Khazakstan somewhere. No that there is anything wrong with those places, either, but out sight she certainly was.
Man, the way these two bitches were running the show reminds of a typical US corporation. Maybe the Trump organization? Or maybe Yahoo?
This is a very sad loss. She worked tirelessly and cheerfully to nearly the end. She didn't make herself the story, and I am stunned by the news because watching her work I had no idea she was having any personal difficulties at all.
This loss does tell a story about Obamneycare though. Sponsored by the same insurance company that created most of the disastrous website, the NewsHour has been a relentless advocate of Obamneycare; David Brooks and Mark Shields both spoke on its behalf. They have not generally acknowledged that most of the mandatory insurance money goes to things that make very little difference. Gwen Ifill had all the access in the world, including the now mandatory "free" "preventive care". I watched their election night coverage, how shocked and grief-stricken they seemed at the thought that a candidate got elected after promising to repeal Obamneycare. Perhaps at some point they might reflect on this loss, and what it says about the mandatory insurance that they had exalted so highly.
I do not agree with the "good" sentiment. I'm not happy that she died . I'm displeased with the PBS Newshour for taking a nosedive in quality when she and Judy Woodruff took over.
Her partisan politics has no place in responsible journalism.
Dude, she is dead. You don't need to dance on her grave.
Gwen Ifill of the PBS Newshour TV program passed away from cancer. In response, the PBS Newshour decided to dedicate, and I quote, "most of today's program" to talking about her.
Could they get anymore navelgazing? Is there any wonder that people think the NewsMedia is out of touch? I don't think even Mother Teresa or Pope Jean Paul II got this kind of treatment.
The above is not a criticism of Gwen Ifill, although she had her faults (that I can get back to). It is a criticism of the kind of newsmedia that think the most important part of the news is THEM, the people that "produce" the news (as they like to call it). Here's a real newsflash: You should REPORT the news, not "produce" it. Otherwise you are just Fox News in sheeps clothing.
