Global warming and climate change are real. There is no question. What I do question, as someone who has a degrees in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Geological Sciences is the hysterical disaster scenarios that everyone assumes that follows this change in temperature. The adjustments in temperature, sea level, and whatever else happen on such a slow time scale (centuries) that wildlife and society can easily adjust. The idea that we have to preserve environment for a particular species is ludicrous. Over 99% of all species that ever existed have gone extinct. They are supposed to, and new species are supposed to develop.

So, why hasn't society been "adjusting" right now? Unless "adjusting" only applies to the rich. The poor are already losing their homes to sea level rise.
So when "society adjusts", will that including compensating all the people who aren't responsible for climate change for their financial loses due to climate change? Can I have that in writing? Unless that's a hell yes, I reserve the right to demand climate change mitigation and preparation policies.
So what exactly constitute "hysteria"? Is hysteria demanding any kind of pro-active changes? Is any form of tax to mitigate climate change and pay for its very real costs hysteria? Climate change is an economic security and a national security issue. We should take it at least as seriously as terrorism. No one would call planning for terrorist acts or trying to prevent them "hysteria". Neither should planning for climate change and trying to mitigate climate change be called such.
Anyone who proposes that we do little or nothing regarding climate change should have to put their own wealth on the line to pay for the costs of climate change.
