U.S. military veterans were building barracks on Friday at a protest camp in North Dakota to support thousands of activists who have squared off against authorities in frigid conditions to oppose a multibillion-dollar pipeline project near a Native American reservation.

Veterans volunteering to be human shields have been arriving at the Oceti Sakowin camp near the small town of Cannon Ball, where they will work with protesters who have spent months demonstrating against plans to route the Dakota Access Pipeline beneath a lake near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, organizers said.

The Native Americans and protesters say the $3.8 billion pipeline threatens water resources and sacred sites.

Some of the more than 2,100 veterans who signed up on the Veterans Stand for Standing Rock group's Facebook page are at the camp, with hundreds more expected during the weekend. Tribal leaders asked the veterans, who aim to form a wall in front of police to protect the protesters, to avoid confrontation with authorities and not get arrested.

The Authorities should wait until they are all there and accounted for. Then ask to see ID and verify that they are all indeed Vets. And arrest those that aren't for Stolen Valor.
As I don't think there is any group of people in America that would be allowed to interfer with peace officers duty, unless they were put over as Vets. Well I guess the BLM might get away with it, by Obama decree.

OCETI SAKOWIN CAMP, N.D. — A day that began with prayers ended with victory dances Sunday as Native Americans and environmentalists here celebrated the news that President Obama's administration would halt construction of the Dakota Access pipeline.

In the most substantial blow yet to the much-contested pipeline, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers denied an easement for the pipeline to cross Lake Oahe, a Corps reservoir on the Missouri River in North Dakota. That remained the only contested portion of the 1,172-mile pipeline, which is nearly completed.

In a statement late Sunday, pipeline builder Energy Transfer Partners said it remained committed to completing the project without a reroute.

"The White House’s directive today to the Corps for further delay is just the latest in a series of overt and transparent political actions," the statement read, "by an administration which has abandoned the rule of law in favor of currying favor with a narrow and extreme political constituency."

Stupid TRIBAL native americans were so brainwashed with their bloodline racism that they couldn't unite & stop every white man that landed on their shores.
They deserve what they get. They should be happy with FIREWATER,PANDEMIC BLANKETS & RESERVATIONS!
