Looks like the number of Lawyers exceeded the number of Active Service members in 2010 - 2011 timeframe. Note that the Acitive service members have dropped from 3 Million to 1.3 Million in around 2004. Note also that the population of the USA has increased from ~ 240M to 330M people today.
