I improved the favicon.ico (shows up in bookmarks, etc) by making the background transparent. Now it looks like this:
I could put that on post lists before each title, but maybe it's just clutter and people will figure out there are two links:
post title goes to discussion
(host) in parentheses goes to an external link
OK, it's a failed experiment.
Titles now point to the patrick.net discussions again.
There remains a link to the hostname of external links. That should not trip anyone up.
Nothing pops open a new tab anymore.
Thanks for your feedback! More advice?
Agreed with OP.
It's much better/easier to use now.
Thanks Patrick.
*block quotes and indentations still aren't functioning 100%
THe asterisk for making things bold doesn't work inside a bockquote, and never did. For that you still need to use the 'b' tag
OK, it's a failed experiment.
Always good to try to improve. And wise to listen to your "customers."
Well, when it didn't work for me, maybe there was something else going on. IT was maybe a week or more back. So I've used the b tag since then in the quote. But the tag is sort of a habit anyway. Easily user error on my part.
And wise to listen to your "customers."
And in this case "customors" are people rooting for this forum to take off and become profitable for patrick. That is, financially, one day. I think it may.

Thanks, thanks would be nice. I'm going to work on it either way though.
Current problem is really getting noticed more. Might start selling patrick.net swag at low cost, just because it's good advertising.
Patrick,
You need to ban SNOWFLAKES.
OMG! I'm SO UPSET.
I'm simple minded, lazy,& incapable of adjusting to change while others are
capable of figuring out how to maneuver around the internet's MOST COMPLEX SITE.
HEY YOU is probably one of the most ignorant about technology on patnet.
But even that DUMB ASS can handle a little change.
The world is coming to an END.I couldn't find "DISCUSSION" to click. It took me 8 hours to get
to this thread/comments.
What a burden, trying to make everyone happy.

Can I buy an Apocalypsefuck plushy? I imagine it would be something like this.

You need to ban SNOWFLAKES.
Can't do it. Basic principle of the site is that anyone can say anything, except for the 5 forbidden categories:
personal threats or incitement to violence
personally identifying information (doxing)
child porn
spam
copyright violations upon notice (and i wouldn't even care about that except that the law lets them shut me down)
So snowflakes are welcome too. And you're welcome to put them on ignore.
I often use your moniker as a metaphor for everything that is wrong in our Education system.
Considering you never passed any of the Mathematics courses I teach, I'll take that as a compliment - coming from you. By the way, you would have enjoyed it (maybe not when you were in high school - but now you would) and it has nothing to do with politics.

You are probably 100% correct about that.
I hated school, and learning. I was just bored with structured learning.
By time I was 30 I grew an insatiable appetite to learn, before then I just wanted to make money.
Which I did, I worked exclusively doing high end flooring for decorators and designers Mansions, Highrises, and Yachts from the time I was 18 to about 28.
Then I got my first computer and was curious how everything worked.
Probably all of those times I bumped my head on the custom cabinetry overhead while I was fastening the carpet under the kick space then stand up off my knees only bump my head full force on a door that may have been opened. I drew blood on several occasions doing that.

Threads are opened by opening separate window, which is awkward on my tablet as I go from one window open, to two windows open.
Often, threads with external links (i.e. with news article link embedded) often don't even allow me to even open thread and see comments, but automatically open new window that goes directly to the article that's been linked.
Thanks.
