Perhaps you mean to question why there are still monkeys around. If one group of apes evolved to humans, why haven't all monkey type species evolved to be humans or similar?

The reason that I just suggested that you read some books is that your questions didn't make much sense, and if I could venture to guess what you mean, the answer would be readily explained, and the explanation would be better than whatever you are going to get by asking such questions on the internet. Most people who graduate college end up doing jobs that were for HS Graduates 40 years ago: Sales, Office Administration, etc.

Spending the 11th and 12th grade learning Excel, Word, Telephone Mannerisms, Scheduling, SalesForce, etc. is just fine. Organizations are hiring English and other LibArts majors when a decently competent MSOffice user is the only skillset they really need.

Huge costs are imposed by making people pay $40k for State University when a few Office Admin classes are all they need.

In Europe and most of the World, Office Administrators and General White Collars are not college educated. You don't need a Marketing Degree to do Sales Support by scheduling meetings and tracking sales in Excel.

Taking courses in Maya Angelou, the Patriarchy, Critical Literary Theory, and the History of Gay Liberation are not necessary to have good phone mannerisms and type a memo in Word about not taking office supplies without signing off on them.

I think that our education system has gotten better for poor people and people with disabilities. In good neighborhoods, kids have all sorts of education opportunities that I didn't have growing up. OTOH, they play too many video games, watch too much TV, and generally live in a spoiled society. We have too much free time and distractions. The vast majority do not have enough drive to learn skills, work hard, create things.

So, I don't blame educational problems on the public schools so much as what other influences our kids have. I also liked many aspects of common core math, and think that most parents rejected it because they were too lazy to learn how to do something new / different. For what it is worth, I am not in public education.
