By each comment, I'm now putting a "civility score", which is the ratio of the user's civil comments to total comments made since Feb 15, 2017.

Civil comments are simply those that are reasonably polite.

If a comment does attack another user's character, personality, or other attribute of the user making an argument, use the "uncivil" link to flag it. It will go into comment jail. Anyone can view comment jail.

The user can edit the jailed comment, and Patrick will get notified of the edit, and then perhaps liberate it back to the thread it came from, also restoring the user's lost civility point automatically.

Eventually I'm going to let the most civil users liberate comments from jail so I don't have to be the judge.

No more rolling, brawling mud fights that spilled over into virtually every thread on Patnet between Dan and Iwog. No more field reports from Iwog on the doings of the Berkeley Immense Hirsute Lesbians and their rampages. However, no more pictures of goat's assholes, either. Gotta take the good with the bad.

What became of this, btw?

It became the ability to flag comments as personal.

That seems to be sufficient, since the ultimate problem is personal attacks instead of attacks on the point being made.

I don't see where the scores are.

I'm saying I never did that civility score thing. All I did was make the "flag" link so that comments could be marked as personal.

I'd say at this point what patnet needs more is a did some research first score. People who don't maintain a minimum threshold by providing citations, or demonstrating strong reasoning skills, and instead spend all their time spouting opinion have their comments hidden or de-ranked, requiring users to perform an additional interaction to show their noise(clicking a show opinions button).

Research? Citations? If I personally witness something I'll make a comment. It's not opinion, it's what I physically saw.

Example. People claimed you couldn't travel during covid. Bull shit. Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican, PR and USVI. I did that. People, media, government lied to you for 2+ years. I didn't.

There are Pat net bull shitters for sure. If you know they're wrong that's your job to prove it and with evidence. It should be easy enough if you know you're right... right?

My civility score has become 13 ignores. Doing something right to offend the bots and the agitprop repeating stations? I think AF held the record at 30 plus ignores.

Even Patrick has 3 ignores, which cracks me up. I think some of that is 'Covid exhaustion', but I think hammering the Covid Terror relentlessly is very important to keep it from fading into the memory hole as usual usual.

Yes, I am determined that the worst crime in human history not go unpunished.
