"By now you all are aware of the worst 17 minutes in Lahaina history. We suffered the loss of so much and so many. This event left us emotionally, physically, and financially hurting. I was one of the ones that didn't lose their home, but I did lose my jobs. I am having to move to a much smaller space, and I cannot take care of my ten cats in a space smaller than what I have now. They don't deserve that kind of life.

My 10 cats were all rescued and fostered with the intention of getting them adopted locally. Now this is impossible due to the wildfires and Maui Humane Society and other sanctuaries are overly populated, plus I am very emotionally attached to them as well, so given them up to a sanctuary was my last resort in given them a better life, but felt like that was my only option.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel; I did find a kindhearted soul on the mainland that is willing to take all ten of them! That kind-hearted soul is a man I shared many years of my life with; he is my ex-husband and my best friend. He would fly out here to cat-sit for me every time I needed to leave the island not only because he loves my cats, but because he respects them along with every other living critter. He is the only one I trust with my cats.

He right away said he would take them all in and give them the good life he has given all our other pets. He has lived in the home we shared for over 15 years and has no plans on ever moving out, so I know my cats will have a very stable and happy home there.

I also found ONE flight from Maui to Austin, Texas that can accommodate all ten cats! Alaskan Airlines is charging me $150/carrier to go on cargo. They can only accommodate THAT particular flight with all my cats. The flight is from Maui to Seattle, then Seattle to Austin. This is huge and I felt I had to act on NOW. I did, and now I need to raise funds to pay for them to fly out to him.

In this matriarchal empire which will be established, the female rules. As the female predominates, the males are at her mercy. The male is considered important only as a factor in the general scheme of the continuity of life.

The tendency of women to push aside man, supplanting the old spirit of cooperation with him in all the affairs of life, is very disappointing to me."
