Well I don't think Trump is in the mood but go ahead and call BLM.

Well, I'll start.

As mentioned above, we only have a brief snapshot of the incident. We don't know what transpired beforehand, we don't know if the officer attempted to de-escalate, etc.

What we do know, the suspect takes off his jacket and squares up to the officer. If I was the officer, I would interpret that as threatening behavior.

The one common thread I see in these incidents is that if the suspect does what the officer says (instead of taking that instant as an opportunity to challenge the officer), then the overwhelming majority of the time, nothing serious would happen.

People, obey law enforcement's direction in the moment. Then later gather all the evidence and present your case in our judicial system if you feel you've been wronged.

Tell me I'm wrong.

Here we go again with the knee-jerk defense of the jack-boot, militarized, shoot 1st and ask questions later, police, by the usual roid crowd.

Jaywalking - it's a gateway crime.

Thanks for posting.
The cop did his job and deserves a raise. It turned out that dude was a criminal. He should have been beaten more.

Jaywalking - it's a gateway crime.

That was not his real crime. He was a criminal.

People will not be silent against abuse under the color of the law. Everybody has seen it happen in person. You really can't avoid first hand knowledge of this problem.

Citizens committees will bring local enforcement to heel and policies will have to be changed to punish willful and cowardly abuses. Yes, wholesale shootings too. No civilized country is going to keep putting up with 1200 dead citizens per year.

How many innocent people do criminals kill? If we had a catch and shoot policy instead of a catch and release policy, a lot of innocent lives would be saved.
The problem with our justice system is, we care more for the criminals, than the victims.

With oversight they will not be able to avoid charging officers with serious crimes when they commit them.

Do you think the cop in the OP is guilty of a crime?

Sure he does. All cops are guilty and all criminals are innocent.

People are going to keep riding on enforcement until enforcement is forced to submit themselves to the rule of law.

Law enforcement is always subject to the rule of law. But you know what....If they break rules to keep me safe, I promise not to complain.

Someone seems to be just a little bit sensitive when it comes to drinking..... I wonder why????????

A few days ago he complained about the poor not having enough money to get drunk. It's so sad.

What's with the idiots going around looking for confrontation with police? What are they trying to prove?

They think having rights means having the right to break the law.

A man whose videotaped beating by a Sacramento police officer went viral on social media this week has a history of financial fraud, misleading investigators, firing whistleblowers, and laughing about not going to jail, court records and police logs show.

Where was he looking for confrontation. He crossed the street in the crosswalk and was rolled on from behind by this Communist deviant. He kept trying to walk home from work, when he was jumped by an armed gang member who was actively involved in fleecing the public via his union and pension. Then he was assualted for no good reason. Then a bunch of anti-American failed losers rushed to the defense of the Marxist public union gang member.

I watched the SacBee video and saw NO evidence of any jaywalking. There may have been cases of two cars failing to yield to a pedestrian. Not entirely sure. I think the following commenter at SacBee said it well:

Steve Laney

The well worn argument that since Cain has a long rap sheet and has had run ins with police that he's fair game to be harassed and unlawfully detained, and subsequently beat up by police at their whim. Thank God the police chief doesn't see it that way. Cain may not be a good person. He may very well hate cops and antagonizes them every chance he gets. So that gives any cop the authority to in turn harass him? It just doesn't work that way. He's obviously well known to the area police. This particular cop was looking for a black person to harass and hopefully arrest. For fun. Well, he hit the jackpot! Rolled up on a black man who happened to be Cain! A two for one! A man walking home from work in his neighborhood, minding his own business. So the cop makes first contact and tells Cain he wants "to talk" to him. Knowing his rights, Cain declined and keeps moving. The cop then gets hot because how dare a black man disobey an unlawful order from an "I'm above the law and I'm YOUR daddy" cop. He knows he can't just stop Cain without reason so he trumps up a "jaywalking" charge after watching Cain walk across a RESIDENTIAL street at an intersection. This cop is determined to make Cain bow down since he already "disobeyed" once. He hoped, by being aggressive, he'd get Cain to bite, thus giving him a reason to physically attack Cain. But Cain didn't bite. He talked smack, which is his right. But his hands remained by his sides. The cop was furious that Cain wouldn't comply and show some aggression, giving the cop legal recourse. So the cop lost his cool and preceeded to use his badge and gun as a shield to savagely beat up a black man who dared to stand up to him. My takeaway is, had this officer been in street clothes, his badge and revolver, not on him, he would NOT have put his hands on Cain's neck. You can bet on that. Kudos to the police chief who obviously has a zero tolerance policy for this type of "policing." There are bad citizens and bad cops. This chief's message is both will be "policed" accordingly if they break the law. The vast majority of citizens are law abiding as are most cops, good cops. We need cops. But not this particular cop.

Did he learn anything THIS time about antagonizing cops and not following directions??

Do they ever learn? Just shoot them.

Au contraire.

In the quotes made in comment 37 and 38, those were not my words, but he words of commenter Steve Laney in Sac Bee. Most of what Steve Laney said was good, but perhaps not those words that commenter 37 and 38 chose to quote.
