This is especially disturbing.

I'm pretty damn sure the holocaust happened, but no one should ever be fined or jailed for saying that it did not.

Unfortunately the shortsighted supporters of the mainstream left simply dont care, since it doesnt affect them...yet. It will. Taking down the "Nazis" free thinkers is only the first step.

I like Bill, but on Immigration he is closed minded, and a wee bit inconsistent.

He loathes any restrictions on immigration, but yet plans to move to Japan, the most immigrant-unfriendly country on Earth and almost entirely homogenous.

Update: I see I'm pre-banned from the thread before saying anything. Typical Neoliberal Extremist who doesn't want debate on the Impeccable, Unquestionable Holy Ideology.

Ron Paul and Trump have one thing in common: they are both Republicans. Not that there's anything wrong with that

They are taught that different opinions equals violent hate speech.

No they are not taught that. It's a lie and you're making it up. 95% of liberals at college don't believe this either. This is what happens when you drink the right wing cool aid.

CBOEtrader says

They are taught that the ethically responsible response to this oppression is violence to shut down free speech.

What kind of person thinks that when there are 10, or 100, or even 500 kids in the united states that think this way, that therefore this is what they have been taught in school ? I wish you had an idea of how stupid this sounds. I guarantee you that any self respecting conservative such as George Will would call you out for this idiocy.

Lay off the Alex Jones, Sean Hannity and the rest of the right wing retards. The hate might make you feel good, but it's actually that kind of thinking that leads to fascism. CBOEtrader says

Look at any wrong thinker giving a talk on campus in the last 3 years to see the madness

You have to be willfully blind to not see it.

Actually nobody is telling you about the times that Milo, or Christine Hauf Summers weren't t shut down by a group of 40 idiots.

Where's your common sense man ? I'm not denying the problem with the regressive right. I'm just telling you that it's probably 1/100th the size of the Tea Party ("there will be death panels") that wouldn't let their representatives speak at town hall meetings. Oh, but that's different.

Yes, the regressive left, SJW types exist. And they most of my students would think they are idiots, if they try to shut down a talk on their campus.

CBOE, you really need to get out more. That right wing media is seriously messing with your mind. I get it that you like thinking that what the 10 craziest left wingers in the country are doing is what all democrats are doing. But it's just stupid. Why don't you reflect a little but on your sense of proportion. Stop getting so hyperbolic about the behavior of a teensy tiny segment of the country.

MAybe you know how stupid you sound, and this is meant as turn about for people generalizing that Trump voters are racist ? What the hell are you thinking ?

If anything, Trumps election is waking up a lot of liberals to being cautious about identity politics becasue they have seen how it triggers the dimbulbs

Show me where anything like this is happening to the left. You can't.

You are willfully blind because it doesn't affect you. Open your eyes before our liberties are gone. You can't walk down the street in Austin TX with a Trump hat on w/o being threatened. This is A LOT more than 500 people. It's thousands of snowflakes in each school. They are churning out brainwashed masses in their gender studies department, and forcing the cult of diversity on all students.

Nothing like this is coming from the right. The longer you ignore the truth, the worse its going to get, and the greater the chance that Trump will be elected again.
Wake up!

21   CBOEtrader   2017 May 8, 12:54pm

I didn't think so. You're from the alternative facts world aren't you.

24   marcus   2017 May 8, 1:10pm

So you get your opinion from right wing media, I get mine from interacting with hundreds of kids every year. Who has a better idea what they think. Teaching how to debate and critical thinking is a part of every childs education.

What they aren't taught is what you believe, which is that making up facts counts as a legitimate argument. Or that asserting something over and over makes it true. They are taught that they should be able to support their opinions with evidence.

This problem is contained in the gender studies and other psuedo college majors that are for students that can't handle getting a real degree (not even a real liberal arts degree).

25   CBOEtrader   2017 May 8, 1:31pm

No. I form my opinion on verifiable facts. I don't watch TV at all. I don't have one in my home or office.

For ex you can prove that the KKK fwar mongering was a liberal media fake narrative. They received more press per member than the Dallas cowboys.

marcus says

Yes eliminating these programs would he a huge step in the right direction.

This is a larger cultural movement however. Look at celebrities calling for violence against trump supporters. Look at the censorship. Look at the gleeful support of oppression when that SEO businessman announced he would never work w or hire a registered R. Look at the actual violence that happened just last week on UT campus and the many, many incidents over the last year. Look at the people who are imprisoned for questioning immigration policies.

None of this is happening to the left. If it were all of you would be screaming bloody murder.

But you arent. You don't care because its not happening to real people, just trump supporters.

Look at the actual violence that happened just last week on UT campus and the many, many incidents over the last year. Look at the people who are imprisoned for questioning immigration policies.

Each of these is happening in very small numbers. Each incident is a big RW media deal, and some are very probably started by paid thugs on the pay roll of right wingers for the purpose of mindless fear mongering (btw you're proof that it works).

If not TV then honestly what ? Drudge ? T-Lips ? What ?

Imprisoned for questioning immigration policies ? What ?

I'd rather not give you specific demographics of my school. It's less than 20% white, but it doesn't feel that way. Latino is well represented as are various asian. Fairly small percentages of black and other. They're liberal, but would seem like very normal kids to you. Like kids you knew when you were young, except not as white. A lot are from good families.

About the protests, take Berkley for example. If you look into the little rough protests they've had, those were mostly outsiders, not Berkley students. In other cases we're talking very small numbers that it takes to shout down Milo or whomever. Very small numbers compared to the Tea Party jerks that wouldn't let the legislators talk at the town hall meetings in the summer of '09 about health care. Butthen they say many of those were paid. I think some of the Trump protesters are paid too. By the right. It keeps the right wingers from giving up on Trump.

CBOEtrader says

This is a larger cultural movement however

No. Although I am with the resistance in a way. That is I find having a President as unstable and dishonest as Trump frightening. I think he's a con artist who even himself knows that he's in way over his head. Very weird circumstances that led to this, primarily economic. In my view it's way more about jobs than it is political correctness. Trump sold them on his improving the job market. It's crazy what Comey did. Trump is almost certain to go down in history as the all time worst President in history, that is if there even is much history after he's thorough.

But hey, he's great for you taxes. That's the important thing, right ? There's always that !! So keep on spinning the bullshit.

CBOE , from my vantage point you're in way worse a bubble than even those gander studies SJWs. DOn't get me wrong, those people disgust me. But you're completely loony tunes at this point.

I blame Trump. Maybe it's the bubble of people you hang around on the floor ? We're talking WAY THE HELL out of touch with reality. I suppose the most compelling part of your argument (in your mind) is that I just don't know becasue it doesn't affect me. You do realize that's no argument at all right ?

I've heard the stories about violence, and sure, a lot of people are EXTREMELY upset about Trump. But with very good reason. He's dismantling so much that's great about this country, and he's not going to do any of the things he promised for poor white folks. So you're going to need more of these fantasies about the left, to keep them backing Trumpigula.

36   CBOEtrader   2017 May 8, 9:11pm

If anti-trump people were being banned on youtube/google/fB or arrested in Europe, or had bricks thrown at their heads every time they tried to speak out... you'd definitely be singing another tune.

The fact that you cant even admit how bad the censorship and oppression already are is very telling. This is proof that people just dont care until it effects them directly. At that point it will be too late.

Do you want more?

Your links don't prove what you think they do. Some such as the spectator one is a political rant by a guy with a strong right wing bias.

The sesame street one is pretty legit, admitting that for the past 60 years sesame street has had a liberal agenda. But you forget that sometimes liberal is referrig primarily to reality. You know teachng kids to see people that are different in a friendly way, that type of thing, appreciating diversity. Let's face it, even a lot of conservatives are proud of this country's diversity. Who's going to deny that having television which is sometimes like a third parent for kids, teach kids tolerance is a good thing ? I don't think you're going to find anything on sesame street resembling the bazarro world of that one New York private school with the preferential treatment of black kids. That's bizarre, and it's also a very rare exception that's being written about and it has probably changed by now.

WE are in a world with a lot of right wing media that is going to scream from the hilltops every time there is a single example such as the ones you've listed. Have kids been taught by SOME liberal teachers to feel guilty about what their white ancestors have done ? Sure. But usually not just becasue they were white. Were we assholes to treat native Americans the way we did ? OF course, but it's what more advanced land and resource seeking groups do. Is this kind of behavior acquisitive and violent ultimately, sure. What kind of person can't handle a little reflection on our dark history ? Same goes for slavery. Nobody is teaching that we have to feel personally guilty, but we can be aware of the reality. Why do so many conservatives have such a problem looking at it ?

One of the pieces said something to the effect of kids being taught the things we have done to other races without looking at the other side for balance, as if there are many examples of other races oppressing and fucking over white folks. I was thinking Wtf ?

I like this one, from the spectator right winger:

My daughter studies French and has had to write essays on how marvellous recycling is.

OH NOOOOOO. Those freakinsh liberals think that just becasue we'll soon have 10 billion humans on earth we have to live a little more sustainably. Fucking LIBERAL elitist assholes ! And learning another language ? French no less ?

Sorry dude, sometimes reality has a liberal bias. It's called adapting to change.

I thought it was understood that what I said was speculative about paid protesters. IT's becasue it looked that way during the campaign. And we know some of the Tea Party protesters in 2009 were paid, but didn't learn it til later. I'm not saying all. Just a few thugs can change the whole thing. Just speculating becasue it helps your idiotic narrative about (haha) the Nazi left. And you need that narrative to keep on supporting the crazy guy in the white house. But also becasue of an interview I heard with someone from Berkley explaining that the arrested protesters were largely from outside the university. It's interesting.

You haven't supported any point of yours with evidence. The evidence you have provided makes the opposite case. That when teachers are overly liberal, there's a RW huge media market that will get very excited about it. Becasue they need to demonize public ed becasue unions support democrats. Otherwise you provide some outliers, and a whacko right wing rants that are embarrassingly biased.

That's your evidence that all public schools are brainwashing children ?

Again, you have to get out more. Talk to people that have kids in public schools.

marcus says

Your links don't prove what you think they do.

You arent going to find a single article that encompasses the entire propaganda machine used to brain wash people. These are all tiny snippets. Yes, you have to actually pay attention, and take thousands of data points into consideration.

Or you can just reject each snippet based on your own confirmation bias.

Again, you wont care about the oppression, violence, censorship, and tyranny until it effects someone you care about. This is a sad human truth.

45   marcus   2017 May 9, 8:32am

CBOEtrader says

Or you can just reject each snippet based on your own confirmation bias.

That's a good one. I'm far more objective about Trump than you are. As I am about this nonsense about public ed brainwashing our kids.

It's true that you can find anecdotes about crazy liberal teachers. Believe it or not, I know some hard core conservative history teachers (friends no less). They try not to let their political beliefs enter in to their instruction in the same way that 95% of liberal elementary school teachers don't bring their politics into their teaching. Why would they ? Reality already has a liberal bias. But they understand (unlike you) that some things are a reflection of their bias, and they keep it to themselves. Again, that's 95% of elementary school teachers. I'm not talking about the ones that may lecture a little about recycling or feminism (fist wave mostly). Or the history of civil rights. These things aren't Nazi.
