He just picked a fight with the NFL and has them and the Democrats basically defending the 6-figure and millionaire players' right not to stand for the anthem.

"I'm so oppressed, I just signed a multimillion dollar contract. I just have to kneel during the National Anthem."

A private in the US Army makes $1600 a month. Is he allowed to kneel when the Anthem is played without jeopardizing his career?

The difference of course, is the private has an important job, whereas an NFL Player is just an entertainer.

"Leave the oppressed guys who make 6-7 Figures alone, Orange Douche! If the NFL wants to market itself as America's Pastime while kneeling in front of the flag (which started under a Black President, BTW), nobody should criticize it!"

Well, if Google can fire that guy for writing a memo critical of Feminism, why can't the NFL demand Players stand for the national anthem or be benched?

In fact, the NFL players are Entertainers that are far more key to the brand, than one IT guy of many at Google.

Of course they can. The prick isn't part of the NFL though, he's the President of the United States.

And the President of the United States should believe in and protect the right of free speech. Don't you agree?

4   joeyjojojunior   2017 Sep 23, 6:49pm

The hypocrisy of McGee knows no bounds though. It's quite amazing.

Free speech is good when it's the KKK marching or Milo speaking.
Free speech is bad when Kaep kneels during a national anthem.

Companies should not be allowed to fire someone for speech when it's Curt Schilling.
Companies should be forced to fire someone for speech when it's Jamele Hill

Obama is horrible for not being transparent
The President is the President and doesn't need to be transparent when it's Trump.

I could go on...

5   joeyjojojunior   2017 Sep 23, 6:52pm

And fyi--here's what the NFL Commissioner said:

"At the league level, the NFL released a statement in which Commissioner Roger Goodell called the comments “divisive” and said they “demonstrate a lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players.”

What happened to this President being a unifier? And healing all the racial tension that Obama somehow caused.

How long til you realize you were sold a huge pile of turd?

He literally said that kneeling for the US flag wasn't divisive. The fans fuckin' hate it. It's another example of the Elites insisting things be done their way against everybody else.

Fuck the NFL. They have a special tax exemption written just for them:
http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/501

The NFL has to choose between angering it's fan base, and indulging in PC. As Entertainers, the players represent the brand of this Monopoly.

If an NFL player said "Fuck Feminist Bitches" off the field in a private conversation that somebody caught on a cell phone video, his ass would be disciplined, if not benched indefinitely, straight away. Literally within hours of somebody posting that shit on youtube.

This isn't about free speech, it's about the customers dictating the policy.

He does believe in it, that's why he is making use of it. DT did not demand Kaepernick getting fired (by decree or law), but voiced his opinion that he should get fired. The NFLs response is equally hypocritical as Kaepernick's quota negro bullshit. Kaepernick has as much to do with the common black man as OJ did, at least OJ didn't lie about it, only his lawyers did. The NFL has been battling criticism from the mainstream left for a while as football becomes less popular, lawsuit mount over concussions etc. So they play nice with all the SJW bullshit because they try to extract as much money as possible for as long as they can. I think though that they are legitimately waging whether they would lose more money by punishing Kaepernick vs supporting him, and they haven't simply made up their mind yet, that's why they play both sides. Kaepernick should have the right to free speech and if the NFL reverses the punishment or not is totally up to them. I agree with Trump's sentiments on Kaepernick but agree he should have the right to express himself, however then stop all the whining and crying when he gets shit from angry fans and other pundits. For the NFL it's all about money, they do not care about Kapernick's cause or Trump.

9   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Sep 23, 7:09pm

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fired back at President Trump on Saturday for encouraging league owners to remove players who take a knee during the national anthem, saying Trump’s “divisive comments” show “an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL.”

“The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture,” Goodell said in a statement. “There is no better example than the amazing response from our clubs and players to the terrible natural disasters we've experienced over the last month.”

“Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.”

Yes, there is no better display of unity than having a few team members refuse to stand for the national anthem of the Country. The only country where Football is a top sport.

Yes, shaking down cities for taxpayer money for a new stadium or threatening to leave is unifying. It's against unity that money goes to billionaires and a billion-dollar un-taxed enterprise that makes hundreds of millions on broadcast licensing, merchandising, and marketing, instead of that taxpayer money going to schools, roads and hospitals. And then it has the balls to tolerate asinine behavior from long-coddled athletes who are well paid (yet not as much as if they didn't have special rules just for the NFL)

And yes, every "Veteran's Celebration" in previous years was paid for by the Pentagon. Every tearful family reunion, every box seat to a disabled vet, paid for with taxpayer Pentagon dollars. The NFL won't even do that for free.

Fuck the NFL in the ass, and start by demanding a very modest level of acknowledgement in not tolerating long-pampered 6-7 figure Entertainers acting like they're oppressed, when every school they ever went to covered up their crimes that would have gotten any other student expelled or handed over to the police.

10   Ceffer   2017 Sep 23, 7:22pm

Just tell them they get a shot of designer anabolic steroids, an eight ball and get to rape a cheerleader every time they stand for the national anthem. You need to provide the right incentives for the target groups in a language they understand in order to get them to behave properly.

Sorry, you don't get to decide how and when he fights. He absolutely IS fighting on behalf of others.

You can go to the poorest neighborhoods in Oakland if that's how you think it should be done. Kaep has other ideas and he gets to make the choice of how he wants to protest.

Nope. He said a Tax-exempt monopoly (that markets itself as a vaunted, almost holy, American institution) shouldn't tolerate disrespect for the anthem from contracted entertainers. The President also has Freedom of Speech.

What did Obama tweet that time about asking the boss for contraceptives, re: Hobby Lobby? I'd post the pic of the tweet but image upload isn't working.

19   MisdemeanorRebel   2017 Sep 23, 7:59pm

The NFL is worse than organized religion because tax-free organized religion can't strongarm the City/State/County into paying for a Worship Center like the NFL can.

And many religious centers actually dig into their pockets to do shit for Vets. Nor do Choir Members make 6-7 figures to sing once or twice a week.

Obama made a statement about health care policy.

There is literally NO similarity. None.

Where was your outrage when Google fired that IT Guy?

I believe if you can be fired (in California, no less) for writing a memo expressing skepticism, you can certainly be fired for going out of your way (Kneeling) to disrespect the national anthem while on camera while employed by "America's Pasttime" and damaging the brand.

Hey, I think Entertainers and Artists are free to express themselves, but not free to demand to get patronage while they do it.

I had no outrage and, unlike you, my position has been 100% consistent. An employer has the right to fire, or not fire, their employer for making statements detrimental to their employer.

Google is within its rights to fire the IT guy.

The NFL is within its rights (assuming it doesn't contradict the collectively bargained employment agreement) to fire Kaep if it feels he is making statements that damage the NFL brand.

What isn't allowed is the President of the US trying to stifle free speech, however.

How does Trump expressing his opinion stifle free speech? He didn't stop being a citizen when he became President. In fact, being a Natural Citizen of the USA is a requirement for the job.

Did Obama stifle Freedom of Speech when he tweeted a pic saying "Ask your BOSS about Contraception"?

Did Eric Schmidt seek to stifle Freedom of Speech when he fired a non-famous, non-televised IT Guy for writing a memo?

What makes much caressed career Football Players (regularly nationally televised) and their Employers above criticism?

28   joeyjojojunior   2017 Sep 23, 8:23pm

TwoScoopsMcGee says

When one is the President, one isn't allowed to "express opinions" that contradict the Constitution. You realize that Trump cannot speak as a private citizen anymore once he becomes President. He is speaking as the leader of the United States, and as such, cannot "express an opinion" that a US citizen shouldn't be allowed to exercise his right to free speech.

"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You've gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say, "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours." You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms.
Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free."
