The owners of the NFL are reportedly considering a rule change that would make it mandatory for players to stand during the national anthem.

A league spokesman said that the owners would discuss the potential change during a meeting next week, Dow Jones reported.

In recent seasons, primarily black professional football players have knelt during the national anthem to protest racial inequality in the United States. The protests started after former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick last year began kneeling during the anthem to protest police mistreatment of black Americans.

Wait, how can the NFL do that, don't the players have "freedom of speech"??

.."Earlier Tuesday, President Donald Trump tweeted that tax laws should be changed so that the NFL doesn't get "massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country."

I think the NFL players are brats to kneel.

I think the NFL owners/admins are full of PR Bullshit when they try to dodge taking on the Kneeling by using Freedom of Speech.

For the goddamn upteenth time, the NFL fines and suspends players for saying Dammit, making hand gestures, wearing Cancer Awareness Eyeblack, and basically runs their lives. But on this one issue all of a sudden the NFL is all about FREEDOMZ (tm)? Bullshit PR to dodge dealing with the issue, I say.

The only government action I thought would be necessary is pulling their tax-free, and taxpayer subsidized, largess. There STILL is no reason the NFL should be tax free even when they stand for ...

Where's the fake news? In my post you quoted, I pointed out the NFL penalizes players ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME for Free Speech. That's not fake news, that's a fact.

NFL players have been fined for Cancer Awareness Eyeblack, 9/11 Remembrance, saying "Damnit" in an interview, flipping the bird, and dancing in the endzone.

In your own link, the video starts with one of the anchors announcing Jerry Jones is requiring Players to stand. Only 22 players knelt last weekend, viewership and attendance is down, and like any good greedy ass-covering bureaucracy, the NFL is trying to find some way to appease the Multimillionaire Brats and the Fans but they can't but are too cowardly to take a stand.

More and more owners are going to take unilateral action to save their franchises.

Errc, do you realize that it just happened? That the NFL just gave in to the fans after sharp drops in viewership? Hence the celebratory mood?

The Fans pressured the heavily Taxpayer Subsidized, Government Endorsed NFL and the wealthy Team Owners, to give up trying to kiss SJW ass - all using their Freedom of Choice.
