Mad as I am about the horrible racism displayed on this thread by Aphroman and Feux, I support freedom of speech so they can say what they wish. I’d never support censoring speech because it offends someone, which is a much different approach than they’ve taken many times in the past.

Well, I'm really fucking up here, but I am trying to tell Quigley to take those posts in context. Oh, never mind... four tries and Patnet won't let me post.
89   HowdyThere   2018 May 30, 6:34pm

Roseanne should have claimed that her account was hacked. With all the recent examples of plausible deniability, how could she be so stupid? She drifted into politics and proved she's a pathetic amateur.

The last thing ABC stands for is supporting someone who tweets awful things... Now over to Keith Olbermann with sports...

Yes, how come everytime Harvey Weinstein is mentioned for the first time in a story, we don't see the important appendage "fervent Clinton/Democrat supporter."?

Thirded. Group guilt is bullshit.

I never liked Roseanne when I was a kid. Never watched her show. Just thought she was some crabby old fat lady. Sort of remember some outrage when she grabbed her crotch during the National Anthem but I didn't see it. That sort of sealed it for me.

Now I WUV her!

WTF is so wrong with the comment. It's funny as shit! Is Valerie black or something? She sure doesn't look like it. She definitely looks like that chimp lady from planet of the apes which to me didn't seem based on black people. Maybe the darker apes but not the chimps or the orangs.

People need to get a life and stop being such sensitive hypocrites!

FUN! EE!

In fact, blaming people simply by their membership in an ethnic group is the perfect definition of racism.

So anyone who accuses "whites" of racism simply because they are white is actually the perfect definition of a racist himself.

Someone with a lot of insight noted this exact same behavior way back in about the year 33 AD:

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

IT's true. But at the same time, I don't think ABC can be blamed for not tolerating such trollish nastiness from their big star. THey have an image to maintain (like starbucks - it's business partially - public relations ) and they actually need to be sensitive about promoting civility and some semblance of manners in the public sphere.

Somebody has to take action towards turning the ugliness of online and social media discourse around.

Our President certainly isn't going to set an example for the people. What, should we just root for a cold civil war getting ever worse (term suggested by the the commentary Hericlitus poster in another thread (Dan Calrlin) ).

This could be framed as a backlash against the kind of online ugliness promoted by Russian trolls some of which possibly occur as comments here on Patrick.net by people (I ignore) posing as programmers. You can tell what their goals are, by the degree to which they've pumped up the hate and invective since they got what they supposedly wanted, i.e., Trump kicked in. Not that a lot of the ugliness and hate promoted by trolls online isn't home grown.

This whole You can't say a black person looks a monkey but it's OK to say a White Person looks like an Orangutan.
Isn't racism on the offenders part, but it is pure hyperbole on the Liberal's part who does nothing to mitigate the Monkey claims.
They don't dispute the likeness, they instead defer you not to say that. Rather than calling it for what it is, hyperbole. And if the person who made those claims about primate likeness honestly believes that. Then they are ignorant and not worthy of any debate. Telling people it's OK to call white people primates, but not black people because you might hurt their fragile feelings. Just perpetuates the whole Eugenics debate. Which Liberals want they get a lot of political mileage out of that. Racist Fucks!

Update: All episodes of the Cosby show are streaming. Hulu has removed all episodes of the new Roseanne. "Raep Culture!!!"

The same people who were yesterday saying Roseanne made uncivil remarks, are defending Samantha Bee's calling Ivanka a "Feckless Cunt" today.

That's different. Cosby may be a convicted serial sexual predator (even without a private plane) but he's still a POC. There is a hierarchy of disenfranchisement which must be taken into account.

Speaking of double standards and hypocrisy, Trump invited Ted Nugent to the White HOuse even though he called Hillary a "toxic Cunt."

So how all the outrage on the right about Samantha Bee ?

Nugent also said this about Clinton: “This bitch is nothing but a two-bit whore for Fidel Castro.”

Now that I think about it, could TPB be Ted Nugent ?

In Bee's case she apologized, saying that she had “crossed a line” and “deeply regret[s] it.” We can wait for hell to freeze over before Nugent apologizes and he'll probably be invited to the white house again, if he talks about killing liberals some more.

Roseanne Barr reacted to the premiere of “The Conners” — the spinoff of her canceled “Roseanne” reboot — by saying ABC made a grave mistake by killing off the main character, Roseanne Conner, over an errant tweet she sent in July 2018.

Shortly after “The Conners” premiered, Barr defiantly tweeted: “I ain’t dead, b*tches!”

Hours later, Roseanne followed up with a lengthy Facebook statement rebuking ABC for squandering an opportunity to send a larger message about forgiveness and redemption.

ABC should have just cancelled the show entirely. Half measures seldom work in anything.

A 2.4/10 rating is fucking great in today's TV environment. Yes, it's a ton less than the Roseanne reboot, but any TV executive I know would sell their mother for a season opener with those numbers. And without Roseanne, the show is probably much cheaper to produce when you remove her acting+producing fees.

Yes of course GDP and TV ratings are completely related! As long as I attach a quirky meme my point will be effectively made!

The TV landscape has been permanently changed by YouTube, Netflix, etc. In the 80's it was a fucking death knell if your show got a 2.4. Nowadays that puts you in the top 10 most watched of the week.

Why does anyone even care about this woman? She's not remotely attractive. Likely an alcoholic. Never thought she was funny. John Goodman carried that show. It was the first sign of wokeism with a woman lead that was not funny even though she leans right. Never liked her or the show. And this was in the years I should have liked it. It was shit. She's irrelevant now. So she jumps on a bunch of podcasts to make money. It's over honey.

She sucked a huge terd throughout the 80's and 90's. I was never a fan either. She was a big Libby, with her hardened feminist views.
The irony that shouldn't escape you, is that she has become more sensible, listenable, likable than anyone or anything on the Left. She might not be "hot" or attractive in the classical sense. But she's a damn sight better than any crummy Lefty talking head. She could replace everyone at the CNN news desk and that channel would become more watchable.

She's a rare instance when a woman got better with age. I never cared for her, but I like what she has become. Why crap on her, we need all the help we can get?
