Wish I could takes money on these bets.

Unconstitutional departments get shut down forever (one can hope). And donks show they care more about foreign citizens for muh feels over practical government.

Trump declare national emergency to build it, would be my guess. None of us know, so it's pure speculation at this point.

Democrats publicly made it clear, and supporting a wall now would be like losing face, they won't do it. They'd rather let nation die than surrender their position. So only way out is to have it come via national emergency where both sides can still act like they kept their promise.

Classic false choice Patrick. Wow ! How dishonest can you people possibly get ?

Democrats have always been for massive increases in border security including the $1.6 billion allocated towards repairs and extensions of fences, that hasn't been spent yet.
https://qz.com/1516960/trump-speech-tonight-he-hasnt-spent-border-wall-money-he-already-has/

So somehow the fact that congress won't give Trump the first $5.7 of his $30 billion dollar wall, means that democrats are for dissolving the border ?

Do you even begin to see the extreme dishonesty built in to your views ? You're falling for Trump's dishonest 'us against them' narrative just like he knew you would.

Most of the experts have much better ways to invest money in border security, which is ongoing.

Why do we need to blow this up and make this a big democrat versus republican (dishonest) media debate ?

Is it becasue you want all Mexicans that were thinking of finding a way come here in illegally to think they better move soon, before the yuge wall is built ?

TrumpCucks certainly live up to the expectations of the objective folks.
5   marcus   2019 Jan 14, 9:21pm

I can only hope that democrats stick to their guns and not give the baby what he wants. That's not how the system was meant to work.

IF I have to bet, it would be that this hurts Trump and that he caves.

I agree, the sooner we get that wall built the sooner we will stop illegals!
7   Tenpoundbass   2019 Jan 15, 6:23am

This Shut down is about keeping the nonessential whistle blowers out of Washington, while Trump makes his move against the bad characters that has been holding the world hostage for two years.

I think the Russia investigation vs Drain the Deep Swamp resolves before the Government is reopened.

I think who ever wins that battle, will get a blank check for the remainder of this administration. Either from Pence to Congress or from Congress to Trump.

The fighting and bickering will be over.

You can say that with a straight face when the country has millions of illegals that got past this security and plenty more on the way? Yes, the present border security "works" for those who do not want to impede illegal immigration, but want to claim something is being done. When Nancy called the wall "immoral" she was referring to her view that it is immoral to put up a barrier against the unfortunate that only wanted to come to America for a better life. That "immoral" statement would only have been made if she thought the barrier would actually work.

The caravan is not illegal. They are coming here for asylum, mostly from Central America

Asylum seekers are supposed to seek asylum in the first country they enter. For the Guatemalans, that would be Mexico.

It's a thin-veiled ploy: rush the border in big numbers; if caught, present bogus asylum claims with no chance to be approved; overwhelm the system, run out the clock and get released into the general population by order of some liberal judge; settle into a sanctuary state and never appear in court for your asylum hearing. Basically a variation of visa overstay by people who can't get visas in the first place.

We both understand how this works, but one of us chooses to pretend he doesn't.
12   clambo   2019 Jan 15, 6:59am

I don't know what will happen, but I do not think Pelosi and her ilk have made the proper measure of the man; Donald Trump is not going to back down.

Every single talking head on TV said he would not get nominated; every single expert said he would lose the election to Hillary. Every single govt. spook and FBI twerp is trying to fuck him up. Yet he is doing OK and not backing down from the lames. Why should he?

See, unlike the delusional media and their liberal ilk, Trump knows that a wall is popular among voters. It has always been popular. Illegal immigration is an invasion of poor which makes the USA gradually poorer, dumber, less safe, more in debt. There is simply nothing good about importation of poor workers for American workers and taxpayers.

I personally know someone from Oaxaca, Mexico who crawled across the border to end up in California. She cannot even imagine her good fortune to be here; she gets free treatment and meds for her diabetes; she runs an illegal day care in her apartment and has saved up $70,000 USD in cash (she couldn't help herself bragging) She may blow it on constructing a house back in Oaxaca or who knows what? She will not pay taxes on her income, there's no doubt about that.

It's interesting how my local friend said she knows so many single broke mothers who are only concerned about an interruption in the flow of food stamps; they care about nothing else.

She was worried about her tax refund being slowed down. In her group of friends and family members, most of the females live with 1. govt. benefits 2. "daddy" type male who provides them a roof and food. She is almost unique among them; she is working, saving money and has no children.

I digressed; I believe that after another month Trump will begin construction of a wall using emergency money from various sources. I don't think congress will be letting any money go for it.

Also it's a illegitimate Asylum request. They are being round up, paid and escorted to our borders to create Political upheaval.
I say deny asylum to any all people that would be a willing participant in a ploy to subvert America and our security.

We have to get roasted in a Microwave oven to fly domestic now, and the MSM and the Liberals on the Hill wants us to believe that is 100% impossible for Terrorists to get mixed in these Caravans.

Illegitimate Crisis illegitimate Asylum seekers pure and simple PERIOD!

Yes, actually.

It's very closely analogous to Angela Merkel's deliberate importation of more than a million young men from the mideast and Africa. She, and the Democrats (and most Republican politicians, to be honest) simply want to drive down wages for native citizens, because that's what globalist businesses want. Helps profits to pay workers less, you know.

Asylum is not for economic reasons, only political or war. Hence, they ARE as illegal as it goes. Central/South America is not Syria or Yemen.
19   Bd6r   2019 Jan 15, 8:05am

My guess is that Dems will not cave in and let everything burn hoping that population will blame Trump. At some point Trump folds while ferociously tweeting and pretending that he did not fold.
20   Tenpoundbass   2019 Jan 15, 8:28am

Trump wont Fold he's got the Leakers and the Subversive useless workers out of the way.

Word is only 18% of the staffers and workers in Washington are true patriots that are willing to see any President succeed. The rest are partisan hacks working against elected officials they deem as the enemy.

There's no rush what so ever, Trump is right when he says this can go on for a year.

He's going to grind the opposition down with a Shutdown like they tried to do with him on the Mueller investigation that keeps dragging out.

There is no war or major natural disaster in Central America. They can apply at the embassy in their home country, and the law says real refugees must stop at the first "safe" country, which would be Mexico.

They've rejected Mexican offers of temporary residency equivalent, so they are "Bargain Shopping".

Not that their claim to be fleeing is valid in the first place.

Like the Democrats would ever allow E-Verify.
23   MisdemeanorRebel   2019 Jan 15, 8:50am

Not many, since he has 22,000 official employees and the NYT/WaPo has probably investigated every single one by now and you'd more than know it if it happened.

25   Patrick   2019 Jan 15, 9:07am

"Sanctuary" laws are yet more proof that Democrats are for dissolving the border:

https://thehill.com/opinion/criminal-justice/424809-a-hard-lesson-sanctuary-laws-present-clear-and-present-danger

A law that is not enforced is not a law at all. "Sanctuary" laws come entirely from Democrats who are explicitly advocating that anyone who got here illegally is to be forgiven for that crime.

It's like saying that Democrats are against bank robbery when they pass "sanctuary" laws that allow anyone who robs a bank to keep the money. Clearly they are actively promoting bank robbery by such a law.

Sure. Then they hire illegal gardeners, nannies, and housekeepers complete w virtue signaling how amazing they are to allow these $6/hour brown people into their Hollywood hills home and trump is racist for wanting to build a wall.

Feels good to be righteous, rich, and clueless

I wonder if they print separate ballots for local only vs. general elections when they allow voting.

I have a feeling they don't, but just "ask" that the non-citizen not vote for Federal Officers. Or don't even mention it.

You will never admit to the dishonesty in this.

How do you square the massive build up in border security and the reduced numbers of incoming illegals, that experts say will be unaffected by the wall ?

Meanwhile we are at virtually full employment ! Why isn't Trump pushing for laws against hiring illegals - even for small construction jobs, landscaping, and childcare ? Why do his country clubs actually protect illegals ?

He's fighting for a wall, becasue it works in the us against them mindless BS his Cucks want to see. Can you at least admit that it's pure politics ? Even otherwise intelligent TrumpCucks sell the lies right along with TRump.

His wall is not likely to do all that much, especially not just the first fifth of it. What the fuck, you guys just exploded the deficit to give rich folks new Yachts or enhanced trust funds for their kids. Now you want to buy a $30 billion dollar wall when the experts say it won't do much ?

You're just defending Trump's lies.
32   marcus   2019 Jan 15, 10:48am

I would imagine that the guys in Mexico that sell border crossing services must be really licking their chops !! We're talking a major Ca-ching after the wall. We all know that the corrupt law enforcement on that side, and probably this side too will be in on it. I wonder if there is a way for Trump's friends to get a piece of the action? (that is on top of the steel and construction businesses that we already know will cash in.

Does Halliburton build walls ?

Waporware and fake news from a propaganda outlet. Fucking Russians have fucking lost their helicopter engine supplier (Motor-Sich) when they attacked Ukraine in 2014. Since then they have been desperately trying to start producing their own helicopter engines using some equipment they stole from a factory in Donbass region they occupied, but this turned out to be not enough. The same story is with marine turbine engines, BTW: they can't launch several navy ships due to loss of another Ukrainian supplier.

Folks, Trump is the president and therefore at the end of the day responsible in the eyes of people.

Democrats have 0 incentives to give him what he wants. T
hey just don't care if he shoots his own hostage government.

Therefore Trump better look for a less humiliating way to backpedal out of his current corner.
His best bet would be to use other moneys, if he happens to be legally allowed to do it.

I personally do not care at all. I think most Trump supporters agree.

Trump has made a good case for the wall being a money saver. I believe him, and the dems have used nothing but grandstanding tactics in the last 2 years. Can almost guarantee you Trump not only wont lose support, but he will gain some from this.
