It really is one of those "did you read the same books as me?" situations.

It's a deeply paranoid dystopian world in which the people are too afraid to even name their enemy. Newspapers are tabloid gossip at best and outright propaganda at worst. The people that try to teach "Defense Against the Dark Arts" are either evil themselves or get cancelled out of their jobs. Their government becomes infiltrated by the baddies and overt oppression begins. They even end up with a teacher that forces struggle sessions on them as punishment. The only wizard the baddies fear becomes villified as a crazy old man too. Not to mention they basically worship a child because his mom died protecting him, yet they don't understand the significance of sacrifice.

Yet, I see people mostly take away MAGIC AND BROOMSTICKS ARE COOL!
