This is why insulin is produced by e-coli bacteria, and isn't obtained from cattle anymore.

It all comes down to economics. If lab grown meat can be made more cheaply, it will be and what cows, sheep, goats, pigs, etc exist, will be pets. In time it will be considered as repulsive to kill an animal for a steak as it is to kill a dog or cat for meat.

We are still in our infancy of being a technological society. It was only 100 years ago when cars were "a new thing". We do some pretty horrible shit in our economic development, we do horrible shit, but the really horrible shit, that's when we allow a few nutcases control it. We are a more humane, civil society, than ever, and it wasn't because of top down dickheads like Klaus Schwab, it's our nature. Even our wars are more humane and they are still awful.
