A lot of rich kid professionals (law, medicine) declared bankruptcy from student debt in the day, planned by them and their scurrilous Dadsys and Mumsys, which for a while dried up all student loans that didn't have a viable co-signer. The professional students could easily get loans for a time because of the projected high incomes they could anticipate. That's why the laws passed to disallow bankruptcy on student loans, which created the counter mess of grotesquely inflated educational establishment. All of these slave students with high expectations but non-dischargeable debts could fund ever inflating universities/colleges of fluff and squander.
