Free speech means all speech, even the kind that's reprehensible and you would never utter yourself. Why? Because when you start limiting what we can say, you put someone in charge of deciding what constitutes hate speech, rather than just letting the common sense of the general public who hear the person decide. And say that person in charge has an agenda(what!?), and wants to persecute a certain group, or anyone who disagrees with the powers that back them. This is what's known as a slippery slope.
