#newgeneratorAs some of you know, a 385 lb generator sits in front of our house. Its final resting place will be in the back yard near the kitchen. A 100-foot crane will come one Saturday and lift it into the back yard. Now we are in the middle of a very nasty storm. There is rain and high winds. I put a plastic cover over the generator. I secured it with logs and heavy stones. The high wind blew the cover off. As I slept this afternoon, someone put the cover back in place and properly secured it. To this unknown and kind person, a special thanks.

WTF? A crane for under 400lbs? You could rent a skid steer with appropriate attachment for probably $300-400 for an afternoon. A crane is going to be $1k to leave the yard. Or you could even put something out on a neighborhood forum/FB page and you could get 4-5 capable dudes for probably 10 minutes for $40/person to move it to the back yard. Seems extreme to get a 100' crane for that load.

Nice that you have some good neighbors I guess with regards to putting the tarp back on, but will the generator not sit outside anyway???? Why cover it? I'm assuming this is a backup generator because of PG&E?
