I think the real threat here is people are scared of people that are emboldened with license to commit crimes with impunity.
Murder can get very justifiable for street shitters, needle tossers, and fare jumpers when the cops just look the other way. A protected class will always grow a violent chip on their shoulder and violently lash out at those how oppose their entitlements.
You couldn't pay me enough to ride on Bart much less stroll the streets of San Fran Shithole.

About 10 years ago i went to SF and had 4 days of free time to roam the streets. I noticed bums sleeping in doorways of businesses, but nothing like shit and needles strewn everywhere. I walked everywhere from Fisherman's Wharf down to Russian Hill and Tenderloin and then over to the Oakland Bay Bridge and back through Telegraph Hill and North Beach. I have not been back since, but it was pleasant walking then.
