How do you stimulate the economy?

Cutting rates or taxes won't make people go to the restaurant, go see a movie, go for a massage, or take a plane... if they are afraid to catch a virus.

You could do a bit of infrastructure works, but are cooks gonna do it?

The part of the economy that is hit is precisely the part that would normally be hit last in a recession.

And you can't really fight a virus without hurting that service economy.

But keep in mind: if you fail to stimulate the economy, the bubble everything economy could pop, and the world plunge into a deflationary spiral that would be devastating.

So what do you do? Send people money?

It goes against nature people and companies should be allowed to fail we will only grow weaker economically, and physically from this way of doing everything.

You don't think that closing a company, laying off people, selling everything, then creating a new company, buying stuff, hiring new employees, resetting up everything is... a huge waste, when you know you are facing a temporary disruption, by opposition to getting a bit of help so as to keep things in place for a few months to the other side of the chasm?

It always amazes me the blind faith people have in some dogmas.

I am all for safety nets, but that’s not what we have been evolving into. Repeatedly bailing out companies and people that always expect to be saved by taxpayers is wrong. Look around our society is failing people are unhealthy, companies are ran into the ground for short term gain. Dumbest of society are coddled and reproducing the most.

Half the population probably doesn't even pay any income tax, another chunk pays less than a thousand.

You’re right, I believe the statistic is that due to the “un” Earned Income Credit, 48% of people wind up with $0 Federal income tax liability.
