Complete overreaction. There's going to be a mass exodus from Europe to the states now. Trump is fucking this up bigly. My sister in law and brother in law live temporarily in Europe due to work every year. They're sleeping now. But they're likely to leave tomorrow now and are VERY close to Italy. This will result in further spread if they were perhaps in touch with someone infected. This is retarded.

How is that possible when all travel from Europe to the US is banned?

I didn't watch the speech. What I've heard so far is there's a grace period until Friday to travel from Eupore to the US. EVERY American in Europe, that likely has been exposed, is now going to rush home. There may even be European's that head over here. This is quite possibly the worst way to handle this....

True but flights are limited, there are only so many people that can come to the states by Friday. Doubt it will make a dent. Still I think these measures are a bit drastic but they worked well in Asia.

As long as Rin's hoeing isn't impacted this is truly no emergency situation.

Get on the cheapest flight to Heathrow. Bang a hoe in Westminster, have some drinks with a Beef Wellington.

And then, buy a one way ticket back home.

What I'm saying is the travel ban from Europe will force them back when they would have stayed another month under normal circumstances. It will create a vacuum back to the states from a place that is having a harder time containing it. I DON'T want my sister in law coming back. Her husband, herself and 1 year old have almost zero risk from Corona. But my uneducated guess is they've most certainly been exposed given their work. This will lead to further spread.

They will now likely come back 20 days earlier than scheduled because they don't want to be trapped. Brother in law is Canadian before people bring that up, so that's why they'd want to get back. No interest in doxxing myself too much, but empty stadiums in Europe cut his work short. There's going to be a flood of people coming from Europe, many of which likely are infected with no symptoms.

This was a shit decision by Trump that he's going to blame on Pence is my guess.

The number of people coming back is limited and they can screen them all. I don't think he had much of a choice given the pressure, and it has.worked well in Asia. Italy is quarantined right now and you should see results soon.

I agree if your objective is to contain the spread as fast as possible this was a necessary measure. They can test everyone coming back. If you think CV is not a big deal then it's def too drastic, however the media dictates and is in panic prez bashing mode 24/7, as they smelled blood. He's walking a fine line here. Plus if Europe levels off soon he can reopen.

I'm an ass hole to start this comment off. But I don't care about people, for the most part that fucked their bodies up, that get CV. The actual world is shut down because of unhealthy old people dying. Let's just call a spade a spade. I don't want anyone to die, but we all will. The amount of people that are going to die from this hysteria will FAR outnumber those that die from the actual virus.

Maybe I'll write it, but there will be a book on this in 2-3 years shedding light on this pure retardation of humans. I guess we're all on the short bus...

They didn't do any of that during h1n1. Also if you look at the percentage of serious or critical cases it has dipped from 15 % to 10% with more cases being confirmed. In the US it's less than 1%. It will probably come in closer to the flu once everyone has been diagnosed. However the current reasoning is the seemingly higher death rate.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/12/american-caps-europe-us-fares-as-demand-spikes-amid-trump-travel-restrictions.html

I don't want Europeans back here. I don't want Americans back here including my own family. Wait it out. If you're going to ban travel it should have been a 21 day outright ban for everyone. With Europe's open borders we're going to get a shitload of cunts with CV coming back to the states.

Trump has mishandled this so far in my opinion.

You are correct. But the fact that most severe cases are caused by being unhealthy doesn't mean we shut down the world. It's fucking nuts. Everyone is going to get this at some point just like the flu. More people kill themselves yearly than this virus will ever kill in a year. Yet we shut down the world and shun mental health?

We're fucked as a species if this is our reaction. I'm tempted to have a morning beer....

Suicide is seldom contagious - I agree on the reaction though. Consider this compared to the circumstances people were exposed to during WW1 or WW2, drinking out of puddles in life and death situations, contaminated food/water, botulism, tetanus, polio, rabies wtf. This was a brutal and rough life. When you read or see some of those documentaries and you think about people's reactions today to a cold/flu virus you may think we're fucked and cucked ;)

There is a good argument for strong quarantine imho: even if only 2% of infected people need intensive care, hospitals are going to be completely overwhelmed as they were in Wuhan and Milan. So people who get shot or get in a car accident are simply not going to be able to get care for some weeks or months.

What's it worth to keep our health care system functioning? The current calculation seems to be that it's worth trashing the global economy in the short term.

But it also seems suspicious that the outbreak is taking down Trump's economy. The Democrats seemed desperate to cause economic suffering for their own electoral benefit. And now their wish has been granted, though I don't think it will really help them at the polls.

Yeah, I think you're right Patrick. If anything Trump/Pence have done a fantastic job handling this situation, especially with coordination with state gov't as well. Even my super leftist friends can't find fault with how it's been handled.

Ultimately, you can't blame a recession on Trump, when it's obvious that the Wuhan virus was to blame. No one will argue that.

Bad news! The UK may get added to the list.

If so, then us Americans are stuck with overpriced brothels in the deserts of Nevada, assuming that they lock down the driving US/Cn border.

True. And importantly, everything positive with the economy before that WAS attributable to Trump. Also deficit spending, (actually, even infinite spending) to have an economy that makes the President look good is awesome (but only for wannabe right wing dictator type Presidents).
