India is banning all exports of hydroxychloroquine for treating the coronavirus pandemic.

President Trump first touted the drug during a daily press conference and was widely mocked and ridiculed by the enemedia.

H1 hurts India more, they should reduce it. India loses highly educated smart people.

US is 25th on education and produces lot of atheleted but not enough engineers. So these companies import talent.

US companies benefit from indias brain drain, strangely same companies sell back back product to india n make lot more $.

Most H1 settle here in US and actually pay taxes. Fed, state , property tax, etc, they also buy local food etc so most of the money spent on H1 stays in US.

5000 companirs Manufacturing transfer to china , hurts us most.

True, But dont you think Boeing will make planes where its cheaper for them to make and where most of their customers are? About writing software dont you think it can be done remotely?

Then they can get Billions in USD in subsidies from India, not the USA then. And really, I seriously doubt Indians fly more than Americans or Europeans on Boeing Airplanes.

Indians are lucky Americans are so nice.

If 1000 Indians in Mumbai were laid off to make way for 1000 American Guest Workers brought into India to do IT jobs, there would be a riot and 100 dead by the end of the day, with the inshoring IT firm's building burned to the ground.

But the taxpayers don't get jobs for their kids. Indian parents get jobs for THEIR kids, even though they are Indians in India not paying taxes to the USA.

I note that Americans, Europeans, etc. do not go to India in the hundreds of thousands each year to attend college.

Also, if Indians are allowed to work in the USA, I demand that American kids be allowed to bribe Indian Tech School registrar office workers $200 for a real (but fake) Computer Science Degree, and US firms would have to accept them by law. After all, it levels the playing field between a real $50,000 degree and a fake one where the kids are learning 10 to one 386 machine from 1995

And most of all, to be fair to H1Bs, Indians are eligible to collect unemployment from US Employers in the USA, and are eligible from Day One. Even sooner than Americans.

We want to make sure Indians are well cared for. heh, heh, heh.

Guys it seems the chronological order of the story is out of whack. On 4/4 India passed a measure prohibiting the export of the drug. Trump called Modi after hearing about the news. Modi said he would work with Trump. The Law wasn't passed in response to Trump's announcement, Trump reached out to Modi in response to that law.

H1B has ruined the lives of American tech workers. They have placed their minions in companies like Apple, Cisco etc. as executives to only hire their own kind, own caste, family members etc. Trump should ban all H1Bs and take care of hungry students and workers first. The H1B can always go back to their homes in India after their project is over. Where will the Americans go? We have a mortgage/rent to pay and support our families. God help us!
26   Patrick   2020 Apr 7, 8:12am

@Vic agreed!

We really don't need H1B's at all.

The whole program exists to favor business owners who want to drive down wages for American citizens.

There is no other reason.

In my field, outsourcing to China has been much worse than H1's with respect to job loss. Perhaps in computers situation is different.

Yes, globalists have always pursued a dual strategy to fuck Americans out of their wages:

1. outsource to countries with weak labor and pollution laws and low wages
2. insource desperate people from those countries or similar ones

The Wuhan virus has done even more to expose this duplicity than Trump himself.

What we need now is the complete removal from Congress of all the globalist shills. Which is probably well over the majority of them.

Well H1B is part of the problem. I will describe you the scenario how it all works. Infosys (A large Indian IT company) recruits for their Bangalore office and trains them on "American" IT projects. After getting trained, the Indian IT guy who may top of the caste system comes to the US holding H1B, L1B, Business visa etc.. He gets a permanent job at Apple as a manager, then he gets promoted to a Director and then eventually to a VP or CEO. Once he gets his base strong he recruits almost 100% workers from his network at Infosys, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra etc. while a guy like me who scrapped floors to get an education in the US will be slowly sidelined and eventually let go. The tech companies have created a "cabal" like mafia so that no outsiders can penetrate. A high paying job enables ones to buy a home, start a family etc. Why should we outsource when we have qualified workers here in the US? I hope they make it law to train and hire American students and workers first.
I spoke to one politician one time about this issue.. not sure what else can I do. I guess now a days money talks and bullshit walks.

I wonder if part of this is that INDIAN COMPANIES are experiencing wage pressure from IT guys doing everything possible to get H1Bs and leave for the USA?

Another reason is you can cancel projects without paying unemployment or shifting people around; you just let them go and biggity bam! no further obligations. This is a huge factor in hiring H1Bs.

I remember people talked a lot more about this in silicon valley mid-90s. A bit right after the dot com crash but then it sort of evaporated and H1B's poured into the valley. Incidentally, I worked at West Telemarketing in San Antonio early 90s and that place was cleaned up a few years before the tech companies.

It could have been some sinister fucks at YouTube. They did it the next day at the same time, right as I hit Youtube.
Also Youtube will show its ass and throttle their page, and it will be unresponsive, then a popup shows suggesting you subscribe to Youtube and give them money.
They also seem to have control over your internet connection as well because when that happens, no page is responsive.

What do you mean by without paying unemployment? Do companies pay unemployment?
40   Patrick   2020 Apr 9, 12:15pm

Companies do pay unemployment insurance premiums, and those premiums go up when they fire people who go on to collect unemployment.

Please say if that's not true.

If drinking cow piss does not spread viruses like eating bats and pangolins does, then who cares?

The H1-B status itself is the problem. The H1-B program exist to avoid paying US citizens the prevailing wage and to have a threat of expulsion from the country if the H1-B worker gets uppity.

If someone from India is super talented and wants to become 🇺🇸AMERICAN🇺🇸 and give up Indian citizenship permanently, then great, let him become a US citizen. (The ONE guy alone, not a billion family members, not even a wife. He can find one from among other US citizens.)

But the majority of those guys are doing low-level QA work which plenty of Americans could and would do for the prevailing wage for US citizens.

H1-B is a scam to fuck over US citizens for the benefit of corporate profits.

When ever someone brings up top of caste system. I am sure they are christian fundamentalists. Just because you have to work hard doesn't mean the other person also didn't do the same. You and only you work hard for your betterment. In india and other asian countries it is the whole families who work hard for betterment of next generation. Just because your family did not help you does not give you the right to talk bad about other person.

Yes that is correct. Before the SW and dotcom boom how many H1B were issued? The reason US companies want H1B's because they get cheaper labor and it gives them access to India market. Amazon invested 1Bil last year in India, when the accounting was checked they were under-pricing to kill local competitors. They can do that because amazon gets loans at 0-1% interest. But Indian business get loans at 6-8%. If US wants globalization people and goods will move in both directions.

You dont want foreigners in US ask american companies and governments to stop pushing this.

I think Tenpound shared similar article when India put tariffs on harleys.

Whenever an Indian denies the existence of the caste system, I know they are secretly in favor of the medieval attitude of it.

I had a friend who was a manager at Death Star, he had to fire two people who refused to work under a person with a Dalit last name. Both were under 30 years old, Level II IT workers, so it wasn't some old foggies.

You never explained how that works, when 98% of symptomatic people get better anyway, and they say something like 80% of the people in his last study weren't even symptomatic.

Do you understand that those results tell us close to nothing ? Certainly not a proof. I like other people want to say that the FDA approving using it for that purpose means it works. No, that only means that it might work and that in low enough dosages the risk of bad side effects isn't too high. Therefore doctors actually using it, is more or less a continuation of the testing process, since we are in an emergency status.

You do realize that India is holding on to it for malaria treatment. And also for their own CV cases, if and when there is sufficient evidence that it works better than other treatments.

@indc Then India should definitely put tariffs on Amazon good in India.

Even if Amazon were not underpricing to kill local competition, India still has the right to apply tariffs as they see fit.

"Free trade" is often an excuse in the US for screwing over workers in a race to the bottom. It's not really free trade with China if they keep their currency artificially low, and have much lower pollution standards, and much weaker labor protections. It's just US executive betraying US workers.

We went from many drops all the time with the cable company router to never dropped like ever with the Nighthawk. It was also faster longer range connection, and comes with a net nanny filter you can use for the kiddos when they use their devices on the internet.
