Why do ppl still look up to Bill Gates?

From this thread ( https://patrick.net/post/1331233?offset=0#comment-1659562 )

Seriously, I don't get all the adulation.

Certainly, Gates made a lot of money and sure, his first thousand Microsoft employees all became millionaires but that's being a shrewd businessman, making the starting 1K have a full stake in the outcome.

Regardless, I never saw people talk about John D Rockefeller as a genius, tech visionary, nor humanitarian.

In contrast, people are saying that Gates is one of the greatest men, for giving away his wealth for the betterment of humanity but I say, he's just an egotist who's using his foundation as both, a tax sheltered hedge fund (as his billions of dollars of equity then don't go through the probate system), as well as a platform for people to speak highly of him, giving himself a title of nobility of sorts.

The Czar of International Health Care (plus Vaccinations).

----

So what's the Real Politik of William Gates III?

The story of Microsoft is that his mother helped him broker the deal with IBM, which got MS-DOS onto every shipped PC. And MS-DOS, itself, was bought from some Seattle firm for $50K.

Let's contrast that to an actual software (not re-packaging) billionaire, one that I model myself after.

Larry Ellison, clearly a playboy/party animal (and not the stereotype of an engineering nerd), did more programming than Gates, on both the mainframe and minicomputers, during his IT career prior to starting Relational Software (changed to Oracle) and afterwards, up until version 2 where he transitioned into a CEO type, selling his vision while letting others do the work.

Create the non existent disease, establish draconian policy, and then claim credit for fixing the problem which was non-existent in the first place.

One more time and this is aimed at ppl who defend Gates ... why is it that I have no problems with Larry Ellison?

Is it because he's an honest rich guy? A man who's doing his thing ... crushing IT competitors (in Oracle's space) and enjoying his hobbies?

And he's not some forked tongue do-gooder who's really just pushing for more authoritarianism but against the general populace?

Appearing on CNN, Gates gushed that “China did a lot of things right at the beginning,” but added that “Like any country where a virus first shows up, they can look back and see where they missed some things.”

I guess silencing whistleblowers and lying about transmissibility count as “right things” in billionaire Bill’s mind.

When CNN host Fareed Zakaria asked Gates what he thinks about China’s lies, the billionaire dismissed it as “a distraction.”

WATCH:

“How would you respond to the charge that the Chinese covered this up, they essentially deceived the rest of the world, and as a result, they should be held in someway responsible for this?” Zakaria asked Gates.

“Well, I don’t think that’s a timely thing because it doesn’t affect how we act today,” Gates responded.

Summit.news reports: In addition, Gates attacked the US government’s response to the outbreak, saying that “Some countries did respond very quickly and get their testing in place and they avoided the incredible economic pain, and its sad that even the US, that you would have expected to do this well, did it particularly poorly.”

Gates, who stands to profit in the billions, then urged that the only thing on everyone’s minds now should be “to take the great science we have, the fact that we’re in this together, fix testing and treatments and get that vaccine.”

It is obvious that Gates would take this position, given that he basically is the World Health Organisation.

The WHO has faced global shame for parroting the dangerous lies of a tyrannical regime, which is still claiming fewer than 5000 deaths in the whole of China from COVID-19.

Gates’ foundation is now the WHO’s biggest patron, since the US halted all funding to the organisation.

While most expressed disgust at Gates’ comments, China enjoyed the interview, and immediately used it as propaganda:

The Australian news has been a great source for objective reporting. They are openly discussing the WHO and China's role.

warning: The guy they interview, Lawrence Gostin is a WHO political hack who is trying to change the narrative on the WHO's culpability. He was on record criticizing the travel bans back in early Feb.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Is Bill Gates Satan’s Spawn? Or Merely a Geek Gone Mad and Turned Traitor/Murderer?

“Vaccines, for Bill Gates, are a strategic philanthropy that feed his many vaccine-related businesses (including Microsoft’s ambition to control a global vac ID enterprise) and give him dictatorial control over global health policy—the spear tip of corporate neo-imperialism.

Gates’ obsession with vaccines seems fueled by a messianic conviction that he is ordained to save the world with technology and a god-like willingness to experiment with the lives of lesser humans.

Promising to eradicate Polio with $1.2 billion, Gates took control of India ‘s National Advisory Board (NAB) and mandated 50 polio vaccines (up from 5) to every child before age 5. Indian doctors blame the Gates campaign for a devastating vaccine-strain polio epidemic that paralyzed 496,000 children between 2000 and 2017. In 2017, the Indian Government dialed back Gates’ vaccine regimen and evicted Gates and his cronies from the NAB. Polio paralysis rates dropped precipitously. In 2017, the World Health Organization reluctantly admitted that the global polio explosion is predominantly vaccine strain, meaning it is coming from Gates’ Vaccine Program. The most frightening epidemics in Congo, the Philippines, and Afghanistan are all linked to Gates’ vaccines. By 2018, ¾ of global polio cases were from Gates’ vaccines.

More from same article:

Nelson Mandela’s former Senior Economist, Professor Patrick Bond, describes Gates’ philantropic practises as “ruthless” and immoral”.

In 2010, Gates committed $ 10 billion to the WHO promising to reduce population, in part, through new vaccines. A month later Gates told a Ted Talk that new vaccines “could reduce population”. In 2014, Kenya’s Catholic Doctors Association accused the WHO of chemically sterilizing millions of unwilling Kenyan women with a phony “tetanus” vaccine campaign.

Independent labs found the sterility formula in every vaccine tested.

After denying the charges, WHO finally admitted it had been developing the sterility vaccines for over a decade.

Similar accusations came from Tanzania, Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines.

A 2017 study (Morgensen et.Al.2017) showed that WHO’s popular DTP is killing more Africans than the disease it pretends to prevent. Vaccinated girls suffered 10x the death rate of unvaccinated children.

Gates and the WHO refused to recall the lethal vaccine which WHO forces upon millions of African children annually.

Global public health advocates around the world accuse Gates of – hijacking WHO’s agenda away from the projects that are proven to curb infectious diseases; clean water, hygiene, nutrition and economic development.

They say he has diverted agency resources to serve his personal fetish – that good health only comes in a syringe.

In addition to using his philantropy to control WHO, UNICEF, GAVI and PATH, Gates funds private pharmaceutical companies that manifacture vaccines, and a massive network of pharmaceutical -industry front groups that broadcast deceptive propaganda, develop fraudulent studies, conduct surveillance and psychological operations against vaccine hesitancy and use Gates’ power and money to silence dissent and coerce compliance.

In this recent nonstop Pharmedia appearances, Gates appears gleeful that the Covid-19 crisis will give him the opportunity to force his third-world vaccine programs on American children.”

Murderous Bastard!

None of us here on this blog were present in those days 40 years after Rockefeller began his monopolistic, anti-competitive business practices, to read the contemporaneous headlines. We only have long-retrospective view filtered through the historical legacy narrative.

Rockefeller was not the only anti-competitive, monopolistic, robber baron of his day. Nor is Gates. I am a lifelong resident of Silicon Valley. I did not ask to come here, nor like so many others who follow this thread did I come here to seek employment in the Gold Rush mentality. I am comfortable living here. I have close family with ties to some of the Silicon Valley robber baron types. They have shared some accounts with me. People I know were hurt by Ellison's anti-competitive steamroller.

It's the brutality of capitalism. It happens. As others said on this thread, not every consequence of these guys' actions has been bad. It's a mixed bag. In all, we're likely better off than if in a Centrally-Planned society like Maoist China or the Soviet Union.

Gates piggybacking off his mom's insider status is an open secret, actually, not really a secret. We all know it.

Gates' mom is the reason he's rich. She was a corporate lawyer, as was his father, with all the Aerospace/IT companies on the West Coast on Speeddial.

That's why he was given meetings with Xerox, HP, etc. back when any other 19-year old drop out would be given an unpaid internship form and would have been stopped at the security desk. Never would have even made it to the Executive Secretary.

Yes, some even in MA, at Digital Equipment Corp, when I was a kid.

The point isn't that the top dog, whether it's in relational databases/ERPs or desktop operating systems, isn't a shrewd and cunning business person but it's the fact that instead of being seen as one, people actually believe that Gates is a genius humanitarian ... a mix of Doogie Howser's brains & Mother Teresa's charities. In reality, he's none of the above. The only thing him and Paul Allen did was write a basic compiler, BFD! Nearly every comp science major writes some compiler during his studies.

Ellison is exactly what he is in the news ... shrewd, cutthroat, visionary, athletic, party animal, competitor, and a narcissist.

And yes, he was a minicomputer programmer, among his starting three, before becoming a loud mouth and a general 'bad boy' CEO of the Valley.

Instead of the above, Gates bought DOS from another Seattle company & afterwards, basically had his staff reverse engineer the Mac UI to put Windows on top of DOS and won the lawsuit against Jobs by not using any of the actual libraries from the Mac but only 'the features'.

The public image of Bill Gates is a complete sham.

The MAC GUI was not created by Apple. It was created by Xerox Parc.

Well, here's what I've heard about JDR I, from now a deceased grand uncle ... he was basically a hated man when Standard Oil was the sole producer and distributor of oil, at some 90% of the nation's supply. This was basically the time of the 1890s to the time prior to the Trust busting era of the 1910s.

So as he got into philanthropy, his son, JDR II led that move and thus, created a type of separation between the patriarch and the scion.

Understand this ... the company hired mercenaries to shoot at the miners in a shantytown tent setup in Ludlow Colorado back in 1914 and it was JDR II, who eventually tried to sooth things over, to prevent a massacre like it in the future where American workers and hitmen went at it full throttle.

This is a far cry from William Gates III, who did all his dirty deeds using 3rd world countries as guinea pigs. It's not nearly as explosive nationally, as what JDR I's bad boys did real-time when they were an effective multi-state monopoly.

So for Gates to have a target on his back, all the victims of vaccination need to step up and tell their stories.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/bill-gates-hosted-nude-pool-202524601.html

Excerpt: 'During Microsoft's early days in the late 80's and early 90's, Bill Gates had a propensity for partying, insiders said.

On more than one occasion, during nights he wasn't working his usual 17-hour days, he invited friends and dancers from local all-nude nightclubs to swim naked at his Laurelhurst bachelor pad overlooking Lake Washington, James Wallace, who wrote two biographies on Gates, said.

"Gates himself rounded up the girls and brought them over there," Wallace said. "I don't know if he physically transported them or if he just told them where to show up."

Gates was a regular attendee of exclusive after-parties at major computer expo trade conferences like Comdex and Demo, where Gates was often the keynote speaker. "Bill drank, and he got drunk pretty easily," said Robert X. Cringely, who wrote a popular computer gossip column for InfoWorld around that time.

"All of us will have been at some affair where Bill was clearly impaired. He was happier" drunk, Cringely said.

Gates preferred to keep his romantic options open while he was dating Melinda, and he struggled to commit to her. "Bill wanted to be married, but he didn't know whether he could actually commit to it and have Microsoft," Melinda said of the time they were dating in an interview for the Netflix docuseries "Inside Bill's Brain: Decoding Bill Gates."'

===

In other words, Gates was similar to Ellison in terms of partying (sorry, make that attempts at partying) but unlike Larry, he wasn't honest about it and wanted to maintain a faux public image of "Mr Goody-2-Shoes" to fit the narrative of him being a smart humanitarian vs a regular business type with too much money in his hands.
