CNN Headline reads:

"New York governor signs executive order allowing 10 people or less to gather in time for Memorial Day"

https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/coronavirus-pandemic-05-23-20-intl/index.html

So nice to know that Big Brother gave us permission...

I went back and reread the original executive order (Executive Order 202.10) which said that...

"Non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason (e.g. parties, celebrations or other social events) are canceled or postponed at this time."

I get that we needed to limit the spread early on to not overwhelm the medical facilities and "flatten the curve". Was it constitutional? Probably not. But I bought into it (reluctantly) in the beginning.

But now that effort was overwhelimingly successful, to see us "earn" our rights back (very slowly I might add) is a huge red flag.

Especially considering the more science learns about this virus; how it spreads, how deadly it is, etc. The less severe it seems. (And no I'm not making light of it... but its thankfully not as bad as the "experts" first thought.)

Tell the governor im gathering with 11 of my closest freinds this weekend! Enough is enough.

For sure. 15 days turned into 30 and then basically ~75 for me here in IL. All my local counties said early on (Sheriffs) that they wouldn't enforce the gathering part of the executive order because it wasn't enforceable. aka a law that your legislature passes and governor then signs. We still hang out in groups of 20 and have never had a problem. Though my county has 2 deaths, 200 cases for 105k residents. Truly a scary situation.... 🙄

This has been a load of shit. I think most people took it seriously and would have just stayed home if asked and the businesses voluntarily close. At no point was or should it even have been a "permission" granting scheme from one person in government. Scary shit. And now you'll fucking get yelled at by Karen if you don't drive with a fucking mask. (This has not happened to me, but I'm sure it's coming) There are going to be long term social and mental consequences from all this bull shit.

@wookieman

Good point. Kids of a certain age will grow up thinking this is somehow normal. Ugh.

We had a group of parents in our district finally say fuck it, let's get the kids to hang out yesterday. I don't ever think I've seen my oldest that excited to hang out with other kids. He was literally jumping and fist pumping like he just won the Masters or Super Bowl. It made me angry and fucking sad at the same time. He hadn't hung out with his buddies in his grade since mother fucking March 15th..... It's May 22nd. May fucking 22nd.

This whole deal is a load of bull shit (it's real, talking about the handling of it all). When you get kid wanting to go back to school, you know shits fucked up.

We've been getting together with 3 other families for the last 4 weeks for backyard/driveway drinks and food. The parents hang out and drink and the kids run around and bike all over the neighborhood.

Thankfully I have a bunch of kids and families on my street and biking distance, so my kids have not been totally cut off.

I am teaching my kids that this lockdown shit is not normal.

We never lost our rights. We always have our rights. They are our rights. We just don't always exercise them.

Take an electric razor with you and shave a Karen. Only returning social approbation will put the Buttinsky Karens back in their place - at home watching Second Chances Romances with their cats/dogs instead of being a public nuisance.

And wear this shirt! Available on Amazon.
