A Chicago carjacker has been killed after his intended victim slammed the car into an L-track support beam, sending him flying through the windshield.

The carjacker’s accomplice, a woman, was also injured in the carjacking attempt.

The victim was injured in the crash as well but managed to survive.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the deceased man as 18-year-old Elijah Treadwell.

Treadwell and his 16-year-old female accomplice entered an Infiniti FX35 in the 100 block of East Lake.

The thugs tried to carjack the woman at around 5:42 p.m.

However, the victim fought back, struggling with the two hooligans as the car accelerated into the L support column near Wabash Avenue.

All three were trapped inside the vehicle but witnesses say only half of Treadwell was trapped inside with the other half ejected and sticking halfway out the windshield.

Prior to the attack, the animal had reportedly been described as peaceful and was often around children sans incident.

Some sources blamed the watchman for provoking the beast by punching him. “The man paid with his life after hitting the animal in the face,” local sources said, per E2W news. ...

Nonetheless, authorities decided to put the camel down to prevent future attacks. Law enforcement is investigating whether the animal was held legally on camp property.

In a similar incident last March, two men were killed by a rampaging camel that escaped from a petting zoo in Tennessee.

PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) — A man attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a parked SUV in Southern California was run over and killed when the vehicle's sleeping driver awakened and started to drive away, authorities said.

The death occurred Tuesday evening in a retail parking lot in Palmdale, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Arriving deputies found a Ford Excursion partially backed out of a parking stall, a man lying on the ground and a smaller vehicle in the next parking stall.

The department said the Excursion driver was asleep when the smaller vehicle pulled up and one of the four people inside got out and began sawing the catalytic converter off the Ford.

“The victim woke up from the sound, turned the car on, put the vehicle in reverse, and felt a bump like she ran something over,” the department said. “She stopped immediately, leaving the suspect on the ground after running him over.”

The driver then called 911 to get medical help for the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital. The other three people in the smaller vehicle were detained. No names were released.

Palmdale is in the high desert Antelope Valley north of Los Angeles.
