My bull shit meter went into overload when the hospitals were supposed to be overwhelmed and my nurse friends all said they were empty and some were close to getting laid off in the 2nd largest city in IL in April. That just simply doesn't compute with what the narrative was at the time.

There's a virus, but I think it's less lethal than the flu, we just didn't have proper therapeutics at the onset. Even Trump haters that want him dead are seemingly going to have to admit that Covid-19 is really not a big deal if Trump survived it as an overweight OrangeMan. The politicization of this by the media has been more deadly than the actual virus, we'll just never be able to count the deaths or years of life lost.

No, but knowing multiple people that work in some of the largest hospitals in a state with 11M people is beyond anecdotal. Sorry for you losses and that they hit one specific person multiple times. My statement stands though that it was botched in the beginning, we didn't have therapeutics and much of the deaths were in one region of the country because governors, hospital admin, nursing homes all failed to understand the obvious.

Not that many people normally die every year, as a percent of the population, and though there was a definite increase, death from the Wuhan virus remained quite rare overall. The odds that you personally know any are slim.
