In my opinion, it’s a colossal pump-and-dump scheme, the likes of which the world has never seen. In a pump-and-dump game, promoters “pump” up the price of a security creating a speculative frenzy, then “dump” some of their holdings at artificially high prices. And some cryptocurrencies are pure frauds. Ernst & Young estimates that 10 percent of the money raised for initial coin offerings has been stolen.

The losers are ill-informed buyers caught up in the spiral of greed. The result is a massive transfer of wealth from ordinary families to internet promoters. And “massive” is a massive understatement — 1,500 different cryptocurrencies now register over $300 billion of “value.”

Whoa is me!

Not as if everything we do isn't tracked.

I'm just saying when you use Google you're only going to see what they want you to see.

Well, department heads have fled Binance, but no mentions of how many regular employees have left. Maybe the rank and file are waiting for the criminal complaints to some forward.

Takes some guts (or stupidity) to have any assets at any Crypto Exchange.

I'm the one that first posted that. Look at comment 1998.

We will see if it get approval.

If your going to dick around with crypto... learn from all the other failures... Non-Custodial is where you need to go... Do not let someone hold it for you.
This whole CryptoSpace has gotten out of control, and the"Scum of the earth" want you to trust them to hold your assets. Screw that.
I've been burned by that...

Chalk it up to the school of hard knocks... you can intercourse Blackrock...

If you ever want to redeem crypto, you are gonna need exchanges. Without them there is zero liquidity.

So there's gotta be suckers for there to be even a modicum of price discovery.

She's looking for a sugar daddy.

Sez the guy with the sugar momma... (you know you set yourself up for that!)

Self made with my help... no inheritance or anything like that at all. Blue collar, kind of loser parents if I'm being honest. But yes, I do have a sugar momma NOW. Wasn't that way in the early years. She thought she was getting the sugar daddy.

I have a knack for figuring things out. Specifically financial issues. Creative things, all legal. Like buying our house with cash even though we didn't have the cash or credit to get a loan. I don't think most people realize how many tools are at their disposal to create wealth and get things done. It freaks my wife out, but if I literally needed $1M tomorrow, I could have it wired to me. Network, network, network. The more people you know and stay in touch with, the more money you'll make. More job opportunities even in fields like tech.
2033   seesaw   2023 Jul 11, 6:43am

Bitcoin is "old news".. all of those that thought would make $$$$ by Mining need to sell off their old technology to somoeone who doesn't know the technology is not efficient.
New Technology (believe it or not) is making the cost of mining better... but not a game changer.
when you have over 2000 cryptocurrencies, their are winners and losers... every day..
Miners will jump from one coin to another. the miner administrators can flip a mining machine with a laptop, and a batchfile... take their earnings and swap to something more stable.
I have 8 years in the space. I am not a know it all.
You have your due diligence to uphold... unlike someone who reads chapter one of a book, and think they're an expert.
Unless someone makes a miner that can run on water... forget about it. I no longer mine.. its all been sold on ebay.etc.etc. to someone who likes to tinker or has shit for brains... or free electricity.

I've written you at least 4 times in the last year specifically asking if you're alive with no response.

You only promote Bitcoin when it's up not down. This means you promote it to dump it.

When you next disappear, I won't care if you're dead and I will show no concern.

Bitcoin hysteria or mania

3% was discussed 4 years ago and if that happens the total market cap of bitcorn will be higher than the total market cap of gold. Four years ago it was BTC-1-Trillion, Gold-10-Trillion.

BTC should be back to about 1-Trillion right now.

We shall see if that happens in this run...
2048   Onvacation   2024 Mar 2, 12:56pm

the total market cap of bitcorn

Market cap implies number of shares times price per share. Millions of bitcoins are probably lost forever and HODLER's are going to HODL.

One reason bitcoin is so expensive per share coin is because of an artificial scarcity of "coins" and an overabundance of gamblers.

No.

There are investments that take capital and labor and produce something useful.

Bitcoin consumes capital and labor in the hope that some greater fool will pay to keep the system going.

No product. No service. Just a resource suck.

Yeah, and you measure the value of a stock against earnings. If its earnings or profits grow, then the stock price grows accordingly.

Still stocks should appreciate if bitcoin appreciates due to inflation from a fiat currency system.

A modern day Tulip investing experiment ? So whoever owns the experiment is trying to study how the public reacts to Bitcoin as investors and bystanders ?

They are trying to measure the rate of hysteria associated with a speculative investment like Bitcoin ?

What happens eventually with Bitcoin ? Will it eventually subside or settle to matching the performance of the S&P 500 or perhaps silver or gold ?

The only crypto I have is about 8300 dogecoin. I bought at 3 cents and had already cashed out my cost basis of $500 when dogecoin was at 50 cents after peaking to around 70 cents. I'll sell when dogecoin gets to $100 or $0.01.

Expect a jump in the price of bitcoin

Security expert Ahmed Banafa "said Tuesday that it looks likely that hackers infiltrated the bank's [Patelco credit union] internal databases via a phishing email and encrypted its contents, locking out the bank from its own systems," the Mercury News reported. Banafa was paraphrased as saying that it is "likely the hackers will demand an amount of money from the credit union to restore its systems back to normal, and will continue to hold the bank's accounts hostage until either the bank finds a way around the hack or until the hackers are paid."

Change Healthcare, a health payment processing company hit by ransomware this year, told lawmakers that it paid a ransom of $22 million in bitcoin.
